So my new job's training process is pretty intense. 4 weeks and the last week, which I'm in the middle of, involves 4 random audits of our performance while doing the day to day tasks of the role. They hired about 200 people recently so we have prior training classes to compare to, a good portion failed and lost the job in the last day or two of the process. Luckily I've had 3 good audits out of 4, should basically know this time tomorrow if I'm going to really have a job starting Monday. It's been very stressful, but the perks and pay are worth it. The race last night didn't go well but it was great catharsis, as were the tacos and beers after.

Kudos RPK79 on your new job as well!

Very nice. Only thing I've had like that was to get to 4 out of 5 stage interview process for Merill Lynch. Didn't make it past the last stage - they ****-tested me with some 60 year old managing director on 'role dedication' and I 'failed it'.

I've seen some shady practice(s) here that may end up very problematic down the road. Month 3 of employment. Might be swinging for the fences again - would love to land in a high stress high pay pm role  It's Dallas so I expect it to be out there for the taking.

Price is 30 Euros/day, so $35/day, which is reasonable IMO. Road cycling in Spain? Priceless.

If they offer theft insurance, consider it. A friend of mine rented a decent bike in France and it got nicked in a small village while he stopped at a cafe. He now owns a bike some kid in France is riding.

European street thieves are just downright impressive. Pick pockets, etc.

I will consider it, but I pretty much NEVER leave my bike out of sight when I am out riding. I will treat the rental the same way.

I've been off the club ride wagon that I barely got on. Dropping caffeine, weird weather, dates, are all my excuses.

There's an awful lot of snark in practically every other forum I visit here. And to think Addiction has that rep. It's a safe zone in here.

While riding the Monon Trail, in Indianapolis last week, I was passed by a carbon fiber bike that sounded like a squirrel cage fan. Do power meters make that kind of racket?

Did you buy a cheap logitech combo or did you spend a little more for something that might work?

Logitech works for me, I just wish the batteries lasted longer.

My last LT KB used 2AAA and lasted like a year, but then the letters wore off. The new one is rechargable, but only lasts a week, same with the mouse.

No. If you were hearing something different, and it wasn't just a poorly maintained drivetrain, it was probably carbon rims.

They can, especially if they are deeper sections.

The carbon tends to magnify the noise from the spokes.

Still on weight restriction which means I need to coordinate with Mrs. rjones28. A sub-15 pound bike would have been handy. :)

rjones28 06-08-17 12:00 PM

Also, I haven't Stava'd any of the short easy rides.

rjones28 06-08-17 12:01 PM

Tomorrow will be eight weeks post-op. No more restrictions!

Snark is ok, its mostly men here at BF after all. It's the hostility that's not acceptable.
