It's a Garmin Vivoactive HR and doesn't require a strap. I have used as a bike computer before but not normally. It does seem to do a decent job as a bike computer but it doesn't auto-stop so if you stop for coffee, your average mph plummets. It does have GPS and everything so it uploads to Garmin Connect and then Strava. Comes in handy if I forget my bike computer but still want to record everything.

Thanks!

Colnago C60 as handbuilt in Italy frame.

What other hand made outside of Asia based makers are there? I'm sure a ton, just want to ping a few to look at.

Is that a Garmin watch? If so, do you use the heart rate strap with it? And again, if so- do you find it accurate?

I ask because I've got a Garmin watch sitting next to my computer at home gathering dust and I'm not sure if I should invest in the HR strap to go with it.

Nice bike! Love the matching.

I use a Mio Link with a Garmin watch. Works fine and much more comfy than a chest strap. Never needs washing like a chest strap. Also, I can't get a reading without heavy sweating when using a chest strap, so the wrist sensor is perfect for me.

Also make sure the Soft beam is intact. If it cracks or the mechanism fails, I doubt you cna find a replacement.

I just realized you mean a replacement for the Soft beam. At first I thought you meant what else might be irrevocably damaged due to the beam failing. Ouch!

I wear gloves to work on things. Things like the spinal cord. :)

Has anyone else CX-ified a pure road bike?

What else should I swap?
Is the carbon fork ok?

This is the trail I'll be on... ruts and rocks.

My full-suspension mtb was $1700.

There's something to be said for a full-suspension bike for people with back issues (which you have, right?).

I just didn't 100% follow why you had to have a hardtail even for fire roads. I ride my MTB on fire roads all the time.

I wrote a post about looking at Giant full-suspension MTBs, as they are a very good value. But I deleted it when you said you had to have a hardtail.

Nice. I've been meaning to try 28s on my Madone. Once my current tires wear out that's my next move. My rims are narrow so I shouldn't have any clearance issues.

Haha. I have 25's on my TT bike but they're really 27s. Those new race tires I'm trying to get are 23s but really 25s. Going in the opposite direction.

Brake clearance issues and hopefully a little better aerodynamics.

I'll probably aerotest both configurations fairly soon though. So the final choice won't be a guess any more.

Nice bike. I switch all my bikes to black bar tape. It's easier.

They vivoactive does auto pause you just have to turn that setting on.

My vivoinactive was just signed for at the Garmin facility.

Interesting. Aero is everything for you, but for me, approaching the ripe age of 32, I'm looking for some additional comfort for when I inevitably delete my Strava account and switch to birkenstocks/backup barz. I think 28s at ~70 psi would help.

I'm running 30s (Schwalbe S-One) at 65f/70r - love em. Faster on ****ty roads, not appreciably slower on good roads and feel so much less beat up after longer rides.

Where's the best place to buy Birkenstocks?

Dan333SP 05-10-17 12:05 PM

After a quick google, I found an article called "The Birckenstock Debate" at manrepeller.com. Hmmm...

I don't like the cat shaming that has been going on here.

Do you have a husky cat?

He got a bit beefy (he's also a long, tall cat), but he went on a diet and lost some six lbs. Then he was diagnosed with lymphoma just before Christmas so I have been trying to fatten him up a bit.

Good morning club ride. Fantastic weather and good turnout. Did I miss anything while I was out riding?

rpenmanparker 05-10-17 12:17 PM

Not the first time I've said it, but I'm happy to say it again. Fizik bar tape does not get dirty...ever. White, yellow, black. It's all the same. Never needs cleaning.

It is not possible to shame a cat.

Since I am a part owner, any pilferage would be taking from myself.
