Actually I have been riding the Habanero much more than the gift bike lately.

I thought you would be wise like King Solomon and propose splitting the jersey in half. Had you done that, I would have said Dan should get it. In response, you would declare me the true owner of the jersey.

I like your logic. Nice try.
BTW...You don't, by any chance, ride with a couple of guys named Mike, do you? I think one's last name begins with "Di". I met them on Pedal PA back in the 90s and still see them riding out your way every once in a while. |
processes and production meeting today. my idea to 'hire' summer interns for free to offload our non customer facing time suck processe(s) shot down.
50+ deals on each pm right now, ideal is ~25 per. My math says hire 8 to get to that point, management says don't worry, hang tight, we're getting 1 new person! http://i.imgur.com/c4jt321.png |
I have never felt the least bit threatened, riding in this area, apart from the city. In the last six months, though, things have changed. Lots more impatient drivers, lots of drivers who look right at me, see me, register that I'm there, and ignore my right to be there.

Sorry Velo Vol to not have spent my evening chatting with you on BF last night. I was busy. Watching TV.
I can't remember if I posted here when I had my first cataract surgery in Jan? I was at an outpatient eye surgery center and pretty much everyone there was having cataract surgery that day. Maybe 20 beds in pre-op area, all full, and we were just the first wave of people having surgery that day. All day long this was going to be happening, I'll bet maybe 100-200 surgeries were going to happen that day. I'm going through the process- getting my IV hooked up, some fluids started, my EKG checked, drops to dilate my eyes, and so on. I have this appreciation for how there's maybe 100 little steps in this process and how each of them had to be figured out, understood, and then made into something very routine. But it's amazing, a miracle. Every one of us in that room would have just gone blind 100 years ago and now that doesn't have to happen. I'm looking around at everybody else in the room and thinking: "Miracle. Miracle. Miracle. Miracle." Then the guy across from me, his anesthesiologist comes over to talk to him and tell him he can still have his cataract surgery but he's gonna need to see his cardiologist, he needs a pacemaker. The guy's all annoyed about this. But I'm thinking, "Another miracle!" It was cool, I was just filled with this huge appreciation for it all. For our society and the smart people it produces. Anyway, when I was watching TV last night instead of posting on BF, I watched a 60 Minutes episode on the Himalayan Cataract Project. These two surgeons who go into these remote areas of the Himalayas and do 500 cataract surgeries per day. Advanced cataracts, so they quite literally cure the blind. The day after surgery, they go back and they take the eye patch off the patients. Try to find the segment and watch it. Every person has the same reaction: at first they are a little stunned, confused when the patch comes off. Then a big huge smile when they realize they can see. In that huge smile you recognize the moment when they realize they have been the recipient of a miracle, something they clearly never expected to happen to them. :) Here is a link to the Himalayan Cataract Project. I'm going to send them a little donation. Himalayan Cataract Project: Sight To The Needlessly Blind |

I know some of you are race fans. Well...In a promo for Pocono weekend, the No. 88 car and a couple of others came rolling into downtown and are currently in front of Comcast world headquarters. I think they are going to do a few laps through the city later.

Hey LAJ - did your Ranger and house survive yesterday? Hopefully Mrs. LAJ's flowers didn't get trashed.

Dodged a bullet. What was wrong with it specifically?
He said that likely the accident that caused the ding resulted in some under-the-hood damage to the supports for the radiator and other nearby parts, said that it would cost a couple thousand bucks to fix all that. No bueno. it's just as well, my wife said she had a "bad feeling" about the car anyway. And no, it's not named "Christine." |

Seems things get busiest here during weekday work hours, meaning many of us are just wasting time at the office. Once I'm home it's riding/cooking/dog walking/quality time with wifey.
