1 smile / miles ridden

Poor effort, I have to say.

Based on my conversations with them, I'd say they will get regular use.

You're just jealous. ;)

She sounds like a right little tearaway. They're usually not so keen on pedaling when they are small.

Ditto for a watch.

Or a bottle cage.

What about a non-aero track bike?

These Garmin rubber band mounts are awesome - you can put them anywhere. Say, anyone know how to enter stroller stats in to Strava?

The look on the kid's face is priceless.

They had to reroute a local race, because the road was ripped up.

Our mechanic said the Toyota is a dog. We took it back. The search continues.

Evening used to be prime time in this thread; now the post count plummets once the early bird specials start.

I thought the Toyota was a car.

It'd been thrashed by the little old lady? Or the Odometer was wound back?

Apparently it was in an accident and some of the parts under the hood are not secure.

I'll be 60 in November, Mrs. Pcad is 61 now. So maybe we can take advantage of those.

Thanks for the helpful reminder Gomerkins.

Home again, home again, jiggity jog.

Well you taste what you taste, but perhaps I am right after all. It just could be that what you rely on for the taste you expect are the insoluble particles that the filter takes out. That is likely in the case of stovetop espresso made with ultra-finely ground coffee and not forced through a metal filter. That would explain it. It would be interesting to filter two portions of your usual brew through paper and metal. If they taste the same, then it is the loss of the fine particles you are noticing, not absorption of flavor by the paper.

Don't get me wrong; a paper filter can hold onto some soluble flavor species, but if you put 8 cups of coffee through a small filter, the capacity of the paper to hold back the flavor species will be quickly saturated. Only a small fraction of the flavor could be lost.

All good points. And, now that I'm home, I plan on conducting a series of rigid, scientific tests. First things first, however.

Seems things get busiest here during weekday work hours, meaning many of us are just wasting time at the office. Once I'm home it's riding/cooking/dog walking/quality time with wifey.

Nice. There's a garden center nearby that has similarly nice surroundings for their cafe. Only so-so on the coffee, though, and I've usually had my morning dose by the time we get there.

Pretty much - from about 5pm through 9ish, it's all meal prep, dinner, a little family time and getting the kids to bed.

Poor effort, I have to say.

My smile alternated to a grimace while I was slamdancing up some climbs.

I've learned lately that my preferred method of climbing out of the saddle is with my hands in the drops. Feels like I have more leverage on the bike than on the hoods. YMMV.

With upfront apologies to LAJ: what with the GREAT strides in beer quality in the US, the coffee industry is noticeably lagging behind.

Dan333SP 05-09-17 07:09 AM

Hey datlas, not sure if your Spain trip plans are flexible but I was watching a show on San Sebastián last night. It's in Basque country but looks absolutely spectacular, if I were going back to Spain I'd put that place at the top of the list.
