The thing I don't get is the need to label someone else a troll.

If they're a troll, they're trying to get maximal response. Don't feed the troll and it will wither and die. Just don't respond me and you'll take the wind out of their sails. Trying to out-argue them just feeds a troll and gives him what he wants.

I do know it is a pet peeve of yours. That's why I was making a joke. I did omit the emoji but the bridge reference would be a hint. But really everybody knows who I am talking about, and by asking about the troll policy I was able to avoid calling him one. I was being coy. I'm surprised no one called me on it.

What you have to realize is that back in the day these forums were a wild, wild place. :lol:

The internet was young, and many people were being exposed to strangers in greater numbers and greater proximity than they had ever experienced before in their life. Also, they were not accustomed to someone else other than their spouses disagreeing with them. Human interactions at these levels were a novel experience for almost everybody.

As such, name-calling was rampant, and so as to have a civilized forum and to tame the rowdies and uncouth, terms that were frequently used as battering rams were put in the filter to be weeded out. Works like magic.

R.e.t.a.r.d.e.d is just one of those words that was abused by your predecessors. Don't blame us, blame them. And we've seen ample evidence that people still seek to use it today for the same purposes. So these words ain't coming out, pretty logical I think. :)

Exactly.

But often times it's like a moth to a flame, they can't help but be attracted to the drama, next thing you know they're caught up in the frenzy, said the wrong thing, got a warning or an infraction, and wonder why they got disciplined and not "the troll". :lol:

Understood and agreed. It is just a shame that the r words (the r word itself and r-ed) have so many powerful uses that are completely appropriate. I think so many people object to them being censored, because it is so damn hard, even in a language like English, to find a suitable substitute that conveys the exact meaning just as well. Too bad.

It rained almost the entire weekend down here. I just added rain barrels at key points around the house last week. 4 55 gallon drums filled to overflowing within an hour.

I was doing 4 espressos @ 200mg a day. I've cut it down to 2 espressos at 100mg - strategically centered now around 3-4pm so I can work with it for a 6:30 group ride later..

Any other day, especially when it's hot and humid, it'll start right up. But nooooooo, now that I'm in a hurry and it's a cool, cloudy day, perfect for mowing, now it won't start.

Now the engine is flooded and I have to wait some more.

Ha, so true. I've been letting the weed eater "rest" for the past two weeks because the engine flooded on the last nice weekend day we had. It should be ready to go back to work in a week or so :innocent:.

The main things I know about New Zealand are that it has earthquakes and 7x as many sheep as people.
