OR he's so lightweight his clavicle could handle it.

OR he's as nimble and athletic as a stuntman.

 Naaaaah, he just got lucky.

Some patchy showers but nothing too severe.

The most unscripted moment was after one of the songs, when the audience applauded, the conductor motioned for us to stand. For whatever reason, initially only ~20% of the members stood. It took a few seconds for everyone to do so. The conductor felt compelled to walk over to the micophone and explain that we're "shy." :foo:

Sure. In fact it sounds different depending where you sit within the orchestra.

This is an issue I have right now. We got re-arranged a couple months ago and I've been sitting at the end of the trumpets. Sometimes it seems like I'm on an island--I can't hear the 1st + 2nd trumpets as I could before.

My week's emotional roller coaster continues.

Did my Sunday group ride. 30ish riders, all experienced racer types. Young kid allowed his front to overlap with another guy, some unexpected movement happened, and he went down about 3 riders ahead of me. We were at about 28mph so I had nowhere to go, hit the kid's bike and flew up and over the pile. Landed on my left elbow and skidded a bit.

Helmet bruised my forehead but otherwise my head is intact. Left shoulder has some stuff going on inside, currently waiting to see doctor. EMS came but I was able to soft pedal back to my car. Bike is scratched up but fortunately the worst damage seems to be a bent hanger, dodged a bullet there.

Anyway, these things happen. My kit is very bloody but fortunately it wasn't shredded. Gonna be sore for a few days methinks.

Coulda been worse...

We have a suprising amount. We have (had) one North/South railway line. It ran alongside SH1 along the coast and got well and truly stuffed in the Waiau/Kaikoura earthquakes. I don't know when that will re-open. Not every where has a deep water port so road transport is the main way stuff shifted around.

Then there are the gazillion tourists in rental cars and rental campervans.

Also in the South Is there are not a lot of roads linking major towns. Even the majority of our state highways are just a two lane road without any median dividers. Motorways/Expressways are few and far between and generally only on the outskirts of the larger cities.

My ride on the weekend was a unique chance to ride on the main state highway along a senic portion without having lots of trucks, buses, cars and SUV's whizzing past. Once they get the road re-opened at Kaikoura then it will again become a very busy road indeed.

I learned something that I am sure seedsbelize already knows. The largest city in Yucatan, Merida, has the lowest crime rate of any city in Mexico.

Good to know!

WhyFi 05-22-17 06:18 AM

It's a two espresso kind of day.

One or two will appreciate, the rest will have their eyes glaze over after, "so I was riding my bike - oh, no, not a motorcycle - a bike, as in bicycle..."

datlas 05-22-17 06:27 AM

I was mucking around with my lawn tractor snafu yesterday, and in removing the old axle/spindle, there was a star-lock washer at the top. I struggled and struggled to get the damn thing off, with much angst and frustration, and of course gave up in anger.

Today I did a little internet search on how to remove them. Apparently you CAN'T remove them without cutting/destroying them.

Now you tell me!

Possibly. I had a cup of regular coffee before the espressos. I'm trying to cut back. :innocent:

4? Wow, sounds like a lot. I just finished a mug of coffee. I would estimate it's 14 ounces. Black. Good. Free. Better.
