Two fun things on the morning ride (besides the ride itself, obv):
  • the smell of lilacs - spring is springing in earnest in MN
  • I saw one helium-inflated, smiley face balloon dragging a second, deflated balloon down the street. For some reason, it immediately reminded me of a drunk friend "taking care of" an even more drunk friend.

I'll have to check the lobby. The dedicated coffee shop opens at 7 and, as I find after the first sip, is good. In the old days, I'd get decent coffee at night and drink it upon awakening. Might give that a whirl.

When we did the resort thing in the DR, the in-room coffee machines were nespresso pods. Like a keurig but for espresso. I thought it was quite good, actually.

I have a brain MRI on Monday. A follow-up to something found during my hospital stay last August.

Hope they don't find anything. Wait, that didn't come out right. :foo:

Moving on, have an ultrasound of my lower aorta later the same day.

Good luck with that! Wait, that didn't come out right either.

Seriously, hoping for the best.

I got called on during this dumb meeting. I didn't hear the question, nor did I know the answer. I was looking at the Cinelli Zydeco frameset from wrenchscience at the time.

Cool bike.

There are a lot of musclemen here. Is that a thing now? Lots of obesity too, of course.

I must have missed it. Where are you visiting??

Cool bike.

Meetings are even dumber than running.

Best of luck on both counts.

I told you guys I live in "little Vietnam". Well, in case you were wondering, this is what happens when I do a fairly hard ride after forgetting to eat breakfast-

Well that hurt.

But it went well. PRed the 40K course by 50 seconds, power PR on this course by 7 watts.

From a power perspective I faded, each of the four legs was done with a decreasing power output. Split 2 was 1:10 slower than split 1, not how you want to race a TT.

But man I had that HR pegged exactly where it should be for the entire TT. Physiologically it was a very steady effort.

Technically, it could have been better but I'm happy with the power and time PRs and the overall effort.

It did not rain. Well a few sprinkles but nothing dicey.

I won, but that is not saying much, I was the only woman to show up today.

PS I displayed my normal data screen and looked at it. Just not as much as I normally would have. Focused much more on parceling out the effort by how it felt and how sustainable for the duration what I was feeling seemed to be.

The State TT is 2 weeks away. If I'm able to shave 2 min off my 40K TT time from last year, I would likely win it. So the 50 second PR today- that was good. I had a race format but no competition, you could look at that as a halfway race. Fix some of the pacing issues and I'm sitting pretty close to where I need to be...

Nice work, HP.

Kudos!

I have my first duathlon of the year next Saturday. I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'll likely be up against more than 3 so my odds of hitting the podium are low.

Lots of testing. Best wishes. They should at least find some transistors in the noggin. Get it? Transistors?

I just had an MRI done Wednesday on my prostate. I'll find out how that went next Wednesday.

Knoxville and Chattanooga are 100 miles apart.
