Well, I may have mentioned my Dad here in the past. We thought he had primary aphasia, like the monty python guy, which is a kind of dementia the only affects speech.
Well he had an appointment at Emory today with a specialist neurologist, and it turns out it's bulbar onset ALS, which is much, much worse :( He seems to be degrading quickly. I missed a trip out to visit him over spring break over some stupid ass satellite test I had to do for work. Already making plans for a trip with them to florida next month. Maybe I'll be able to take him to the Rockies for some hiking while he's still able. That may be this fall. So in addition to my terrible heart muscle disease that's almost certainly genetic, I now have some chance at ALS, oh and recently found out my Grandmother has leukemia (not the bad kind, but the kind that makes it almost certain I'll get it, too). I hit the genetics lottery. https://dgtzuqphqg23d.cloudfront.net...-2048x1536.jpg |

Well, Pepe is only 2.5-3 hours away from me and our weather often tracks up from St. Louis so I'm usually aware of whatever the weather is there.
I started to feel sorry for you until I got to the end and saw sunny and 80°. :p |

How predictable! You guys are a bunch of starchy . . . starchy . . . starchy . . . Midwesterners! Get a life. If it makes you feel any better, I'm growing beets too! I don't see God in the beets. Bulgakov, I think. :D |

Just remember this, funny guy: wives like yours leave men like you for men like me. Remember these words when that day arrives. ;)

Important new metric was invented today on the 41, joining "smiles per mile" as perhaps the most important measure of a cyclist. It is "miles per post". I'm at roughly 4.3, I guess I'm more of a serious BF'er than a cyclist.

So sexy to hear the bad news. If the likelihood of future ailments distresses you, there may be genetic testing for at least some of the areas you are concerned about. I would want to know what to expect.

I hear that, brother. That's all I do is work--at all crazy hours of the day and night. If I didn't work so much I guess I'd have a lot more time on my hands to be posting on BF. Kinda like WhyFi. |
