I checked flybys, he wasn't on there. He was probably too ashamed to upload the ride.

Time to go to the bike shop. May be delivering his and hers road bikes later - Roubaix Expert and Ruby Expert.

Last week at current job! Unfortunately my training for new job got moved up a day, so I have 0 days off. Was planning on heading to the Blue Ridge for a mountain ride, no longer an option :(

Heh. Back in 2012 I toured unsupported from Pittsburgh home to Philly. During the final 8 mile stretch I saw some nutso ex of mine riding with some other people I know. I dialed it up to 500 watts and took great pleasure in droping them while riding a 35 lb. bike loaded with who know how much in gear.

A few weekends ago I entered an MUP and passed some guy. He caught up to me and sucked my wheel in silence until I droped the hamer and left him in my dust.

Fast forward a couple weeks and I'm at my old job reviewing a report. I notice this guy's relatively distinctive name in the metadata for the report. I email his work address and ask if he's the same dude from BF who was wondering about a bike race. It was, he created the report I was reading. We worked in different offices but same company.

Turns out he was also a graduate of the MA program I was in at the time, and lived a couple miles away. He ended up on my team for a couple years and got 2nd in the first and only race I've ever won. On one of our first rides together I told him about Ok Cupid (met my wife there), so he signed up and is now married to someone he met on there. I take full credit :D

Awww - so cute. It's like a happy Single White FeMale.

Irish did well in her race yesterday
7:33/mile average over the 10 miles
612th out of roughly 20,000 women
22nd in her age group (45-49)

Kudos to her.

Nice job.

Bravo! Thanks for that, always good for people to see the positive side of Rotts instead of all the negative press.

I encountered this pit bull terrier in the store Saturday. I could tell several customers were uneasy as they eyed him, but I could immediately see their fears were unfounded ... walked right up to him, extended the back of my hand for him to sniff, rubbed his head, eyes welcoming, tail wagging, friendly, loving dog. People need to educate themselves to know when to discard their prejudices.

I've come to the conclusion that the filter is the culprit. I'm gonna take one home with me and run my own coffee through it as a final test.

As a chemist I do not believe that is possible. As I said before, only if you rely on the insoluble (sludge, grounds) for flavor could the filter be removing significant flavor. If the flavor you want is in the coffee solution, the filter isn't hurting it. Have you considered that the water may be the problem?

How much do you want to bet they don't get ridden 100 miles?

I didn't need a receipt when My Vivoactive HR needed replacing under warranty.

Again, in the case of the high cholesterol blood test, I ran my stovetop espresso through the paper filter, after making it the regular way. It was flat and not at all enjoyable. This morning's coffee, though so dark as to be barely seen through, had no flavor, though it did provide the desired buzz.
As a lay philosopher, farmer, general jack of all trades, I disagree with your take.

Maxxis makes road tires? Are they any good?

How many spares did you carry? How many did you have to use? How hard was it to remove the tires on the side of the road? Did you reglue your spares? Are you ready to sell those wheels to some sucker who has no idea how awful tubulars are?

Or just possibly was it an ideal experience?

Until yesterday, I was unaware of the existence of aerosol sunscreen.

I was planning to use its alerts to keep me at the pace I'm aiming for.

I think it was more like a month before I got my replacement. Week to get there, 10-14 days they quote, and week to get back to you.
