The dog was just being a dog. The dad left a child in charge of another life, and the child hasn't had to listen to the dad for however long, so why start now? Sad but true, life just plain **** in her corn flakes, and now she's going to therapy for the rest of her life. Dad is an idiot, and wants to take another life because the dog was just being a dog.

+1

Now mrs datlas will have to talk turkey to the guy. She is one tough negotiator, I think it's a cultural thing.

Minor update. Book value "private party" for the car is $1400-$2000, so I got mrs datlas to agree to offer $1500.

No response yet.

I found Peets coffee at Krogers. I might just survive this trip. I should get the bike re-assembled this afternoon, and that should help too. Then all I'll need to do is find time to ride it.

On that subject (but not trying to relate to the underlying reason for your statement) I have long believed that the secret of a long marriage is quite basic. Either spouses both value their marriage above ALL other things, or they don't. If they do, they are likely to have a long and satisfying marriage. If they don't, not so much. It is my position that whatever the specific reason for a particular divorce, the root cause is always having something else that is valued more than the marriage by at least one of the partners. Maybe that is trite, but there it is.

Best wishes, Dan. As with the other Addictionites, feel free to vent or mourn or whatever.

Glad to hear about the job, and I hope real life improves. Let us know if we can help with anything.

Most cat owners have enough sense to carry their cat into the vets office. Again, human carelessness.

Whenever I was visiting the vet with Moose I made arrangements to enter the back door, knowing there was too much of a risk there might be a loose pet in the waiting room. Moose didn't like anything on four legs.

On the other hand, once I was sitting in a waiting room (not with Moose) and saw a Lab go bat **** crazy when a lady entered with a cat. He had to be escorted out, the beast. Point is, stereotyping is always fail.

Good news on the job. Sorry to hear about your other troubles. :( I hope you work through it.

Presumptuous and true and not mutually exclusive. As you should know by now, I'll take the former in order to get the latter.

There are hundreds of more tactful ways to get to the latter than resorting to the former.

People get really annoyed with us when we tell them that a cat going to the vet needs to be in a carrier. They think we are hassling them. Also when we tell them not to let their pet "greet" another animal in the lobby. Does not matter if your pet is friendly. The other one might not be.

But also: people need to have control of their dog in public and have a realistic assessment of its strength and behavior traits.

We deal all the time with a type of injury that we abbreviate BDLD. That's "big dog-little dog". Hugely common and devastating injuries in which a big dog attacks a little dog. This kind of thing happens literally every day.

f4rrest 05-16-17 08:07 AM

Good news: as I was pushing off from the light one foot clipped in, the little voice said "look again"... just in time to see the car not stopping for their red.

Almost fell over panic stopping. It's a 4 lane 1 way street, and the other drivers had stopped with the WTF look after the Honda passed through.

Bad news: lost my mind when I caught the dumbass.

If you were referring to my story, perhaps I was not clear. By "house cat" I meant a cat that lives at the vet and, apparently, was allowed to roam freely. There is a well known cat practice that I have used (The Cat Doctor) that used to have several house cats that were allowed to roam the waiting room. But cats are all they treat, and clients' cats must be in carrier at all times. Allowing a cat to roam a practice with dogs around didn't sound like a good idea.

Heathpack 05-16-17 08:38 AM

Oh yeah I forgot:

We get the puppy June 10.

We're shooting for aero testing on June 17 if we can get all the parties at the track on that day. Me, coach (who in addition to helping me will also be areotesting his track equipment/position), and maybe his track coach. We will be like a set of Russian nesting dolls. Plus our mutual fitter, who actually runs the testing. Should be interesting.
