Positive thoughts in hopes it all works out.

Almost fell over panic stopping. It's a 4 lane 1 way street, and the other drivers had stopped with the WTF look after the Honda passed through.

Bad news: lost my mind when I caught the dumbass.

Someone had to do it, so it may as well be you. I call people on their texting and other crap all the time. Still alive, and I feel better for it.

Course, smart trainers have bridged that gap, and we'll soon be racing crits in our garage, so I guess my point is moot.

Rebel Riders @ Coppell ride last night. ~25 miles. 16.4 for average, surges at 26-28. Stuck onto some 45 year old woman's back wheel during the surge and mashed pedals. Ya'll are some fit fast older folks out there. First group lesson, don't lose the wheel in front of you, getting back on sucks.

Kudes!

That's a good group.

Did they tell you about the ride of silence tomorrow night? I'll probably do that with them. They leave from the Coppell high school. I might do it on the MTB since my road hubs are pretty dang loud for a ride of silence.

Will the buzz of knobbies be any more quiet? Road bike - don't coast, htfu.

Yes, and it's a slow ride that usually includes city council members, etc... so you can't not coast.

The city council members won't let you not coast? That's mean of them.

What does any of this have to do with tact or even presumption? My statement involved no criticism or judgement. It wasn't even related to Dan's post or anyone else for that matter except as a segue on the notion of not taking something you value for granted. Seeing that in print clicked the button on the file where my feelings about successful marriage are stored, and I shared an idea. What exactly is the problem?

LAJ 05-16-17 12:13 PM

As a rule, city council members are mean.

That you have to ask, I guess.

That is just too cute. BS, but still too cute.

Too hilly for my current medical condition.

I'm planning to use it as a supplement.

Your situation is unique, for sure. It's good you're able to get to it using that, and to be honest, it works really well to get yourself back at it.

Well, some of them ride bikes... so it could be worse.

Got a call from the LBS. SRAM sending new brakes out for me already, and Salsa has been contacted about the frame crack (with pics, sn, etc...) but obviously no response from them yet. I'd much rather they just replace the carbon seat stay rather than the whole frame, as I really like my current color scheme. Also, all of the AL bushings/nuts are anodized orange to match that scheme, and will look terrible on an army green frame.

Good point.

Change of subject, try to follow along.

Went to my Tues-Thurs old man retired racer ride. On the way, I stopped at the coffee shop to deliver a child bike to a person who bought it. I have a van with a lift gate and got the bike out and gave it to him. OK, so far.

Got to ride, pumped tires, etc. and realized that I had forgot my Garmin. No problemo, I'll use my phone. Oops! No phone but I had just had it at the coffee shop so I drive back to the coffee shop and it isn't there either. That's when I remember laying it on the bumper when getting the kid bike out.

No problemo. I call up Find my iPhone on my iPad and Ping! - there it is about a half mile away in the middle of the street. I rush down there to get it but I'm too late, the phone is smashed. Too many cars have run over it. :(

Go back to the ride and start up my Garmin watch which has a biking app, GPS, HR, etc. About 15 miles in, my watch buzzes - battery death is imminent and 5 miles later, it does.

So, after the ride, I ask if anyone has the distance and average speed. Geez, you would have thought that I'd asked someone to work an equation using LaPlace transforms or something. I get 4-5 different mileages and a likewise 4-5 average speeds and a discussion ensues about who is right. I take a quick average of the replies and hop in the car and drive to the phone store. There are probably 4-5 retired engineering nerds still arguing in the parking lot.
