I'm not shocked by anything from Big Med and Big Pharm. They didn't become "Big" by accident.

Interesting. I've always wondered about that, whether the healthcare institution is really struggling or whether they're just inflating the true cost, hoping to get lucky.

We will see. So much of it is coding. They do inflate the true cost by a huge amount, for this particular location in my old job we would be paying probably 50-60% of the bill after bill review. The rate insurance pays is dependent on a complex formula based on region and procedure coding, they're trying to clean it up in VA but it's still a mess. Hopefully I can use my vague knowledge of these things to negotiate a lower out of pocket cost. Ain't nobody got time for a $1k bill for 5 stitches and some warnings about dressing changes.

I swear I've seen a box of 100 at HD for $5.

That's just the parts. You're not considering the labor.

First thing they check during triage, your insurance coverage.

RIP WhyFi.

Texting with the wife right now about her plans over her long weekend. She says that she wants to "finish up the yard work so we can just enjoy ourselves when the boy is out of school for the summer."

She seems to have forgotten that there's no such thing as an end to yard work, not 'til the late fall, at least.

Home Depot was closed when they realized they needed to drill home some screws in my hip. They just snagged a few out of the deck at the Dairy Queen around the corner.

Me neither. It's a longstanding policy of mine.

I'm sure they dipped them in a little peroxide first. :thumb:

Move to Texas. Nothing bothers trying to grow between June and September.

Getting cadence up while running is harder than getting cadence up while cycling. Can't just drop a gear. Good authority has it that 180spm is where some magic happens, but 170spm is challenging to hold. Meanwhile, I got up to 100rpm on the bike quite regularly.

If you're not planning on crashing, this is a non issue.

You're breaking my heart, I've got  for that fire orange red 105 road machine. Maybe they race on the nice expensive ones.. and this one's a cheaper model so it wouldn't blow up? wishful thinking?
