Wife's new Sigma Art 85mm lens. Yeah, it's pretty sharp.

Sorry about that crack.

Cute shot though.

Raced really well, haven't looked at the data yet (still driving home) but I'll be happy with it.

First time I've managed to stay in aero the entire time on this course (there's some scary bits where you really are tempted to cover your brakes).

First place to my Nemesis, very well done for her as usual. Second place went to a woman 18 years my junior. I nicked the woman in 4th place by 5 seconds. :) :) :)

This was the final race in the SoCal TT Series. Nemesis won for the 5th straight year. I came in second again just like last year. I think it was Nemesis 40 points, me 33 points, next woman back was something like 4 points.

Feeling good going into the State TT next week. My coach is brilliant. :D

Woot woot!

So I took my CX-ified Allez on its maiden gravel voyage.

https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t5...62935808_n.jpg

Things got steep, no problem.

http://bit.ly/2pJAwb0

And then it turned into a really steep wall of sharp boulders, and since I was wearing SPD-SL road shoes, I turned around.

Going down was a workout for the brakes. Disc woulda been nice.

Tomorrow I'll use MTB shoes.

Took it to the shop for some minor work, and since I cleaned it, we noticed a crack in the seat stay :(

I tried to lighten the mood around here, and what do I get for it? Now my bike has cancer.

Still riding today.

Thanks for the drive side shot. Sorry about the seat stay. If I were a younger man, I'd be interestex in one of those 1 x 12s.

Is Saturn no longer made? This SUV I keep seeing around town looks fairly new.

Kudos, HP!

UAL no longer allows a carry on bag for the basic economy seat, and the requirements for the personal item are quite strict. I will nonetheless attempt to get my helmet and 2 Brooks saddles in there(to sell nob), along with my underwear, socks, and a jersey or two. I'll buy an extra pair of pants and a shirt at a thrift for much less than the $35 second bag fee.
Unfortunately, UAL still has the best schedule for the best price going into IAD from here. I hope I don't get assaulted by the staff.

I appreciate your baggage problem and greatly value the UAL perks that my history with Continental secured for both myself and Mrs. rpen. By achieving gold status for five consecutive years from 1988 through 1992, I secured lifetime gold, which later became platinum and now is the top unrestricted level of 1K. There is a higher super level called Global Services but it is not automatically awarded to the lifetime status holders. Then when the million mile club was established, my status was awarded to Mrs. rpen as well. Hard to beat. Three free bags each with just economy tickets plus another one each for our United credit cards. And auto upgrade into the plus seats with more room. Business travel was certainly onerous, but there were the rewards perks at the time and these lifetime privileges now. All in all it was worth it.

Dialed up 400 watts to get through a traffic light on my ride today. I got 150 instead, I guess I dialed the wrong number. Most likely that number has been disconnected for me.

PepeM 05-13-17 03:55 PM

Looks like I will be buying some Giro Empires locally. The seller had me at 'laces win races.'

What's the best bang for the buck pedal for three-bolt cleats?

If you don't care about tension adjustability, look for the Look Keo Easy pedal on eBay. About $60, 240 g/pr. I'm running three pair of them.

Yep. Hacksaw away. Won't hurt a thing. It's aluminum so I've even cut them with a power miter saw for a nice square cut.

I get 800+ regularly at stop lights. Better man up! :p

Common to shorten booms on recumbents/trikes for smaller people.

Good deal! I really have no need to carry lots of stuff anymore. In the early days after our move south, we went north empty handed, and returned with as much as we could carry. Those days, thankfully, are over. It would be nice to tansport the bike for free though.
I couldn't get the helmet to fit, so I'm calling it my extra item, since I don't have an umbrella, or crutches.
