Actually, no. Skin is slow.

There is a reason why skin suits are long sleeve.

I got the rma back from Garmin. No mention from them of needing to send a receipt. Gonna hit the ups store later and send off the vivoinactive. I should get a replacement back 10-14 days after they receive it. So, won't have it at my duathlon on Saturday.

I was planning to use its alerts to keep me at the pace I'm aiming for.

Typically if you're willing to pay Garmin some fee (equivalent to buying the replacement unit), they will send you the replacement right away, without waiting to receive your return. They've even overnighted mine on more than one occasion (its probable that I'm more of a PIA than you are).

Then you still send it your broken one and when they get it, they credit you back the $ you sent them.

If you sent your unit today, you might only have your $ tied up for a day or two total.

Ah, but I'm living on funemployment so I don't have money to tie up.

You're supposed to use the HBD emoticon with that word. Fixed.

Well it will be a good exercise in pacing by feel, then.

And you don't even have to pay a coach to tell you to do it that way.

Savings all around.

:)

Well, I don't think WhyFi is contemplating a skin suit... he doesn't even shave his arms! (Won't someone think of the grams!)

Sun sleeves are often floppy things, which wouldn't be very aero:

It's a short event anyway.

3.1 mile / 14 mile / 2.5 mile

The pace alerts would be nice so I don't go too hard the first mile and then not hard enough after. I'll survive.

Did you hear from those people who were 45 minutes away but not a ponzi scheme?

They called me for a second interview, but I told them I was not interested in sales or a pure commission position.

Skin is slow but wrinkles are slower.

Wrinkles make me cringe. When someone shows up at a TT with a wrinkle, I know they are not taking things seriously.

Ditto for a watch.

Or a bottle cage.

I'm expecting a call back for another 2nd interview at a different place this week. Much more up my alley, accounting supervisor. The pay likely won't be great, but I'll probably be able to do the actual work involved in 5 hours a week.

WhyFi and I both shaved our heads. I don't see that level of dedication from you!

First ride on those tires and first time I use tubulars, so I have nothing to compare to. I have been using the Relix clincher this year a lot though, and I'd say they are alright. Comparable to other high quality tires like the Corsa or Open Pave. The tread pattern is a bit ridiculous.

I didn't carry any spares, nor did I need to do any road-side maintenance. I think whoever said they take the same space as two tubes is wrong. They seem much bulkier than that. I am still not sure I'll be using these for anything but racing. Gluing was not too bad, except for the removing the old glue part, which was a pita, and putting the new tire on, which took some effort. I don't think I got it perfectly straight but close enough.

Is there any particular tubular that is small enough to be carried as a spare? I still wouldn't feel super confident having to do a roadside repair, especially the removing old tire part, but I don't get flats very often (I'm at five all-time, two of them happened simultaneously) so maybe I'll risk it once in a while.

Finally someone that understands me. :thumb:

The lightest Tufo tubular (whatever the name is) is very compact, but quite pricey. I think it weighs 160 g or so. You might consider carrying Pit Stop sealant for instant repairs. It won't work every time, but mostly it will fix small punctures.

Haha my fitter said to me last time: "We have to do something about your hair. Can you make it longer or shorter?"

Right now it sticks out un-aerodynamically from the edges of my helmet.

Thanks for reminding me. I'm supposed to order a hairnet.

As a lay philosopher, farmer, general jack of all trades, I disagree with your take.

Well you taste what you taste, but perhaps I am right after all. It just could be that what you rely on for the taste you expect are the insoluble particles that the filter takes out. That is likely in the case of stovetop espresso made with ultra-finely ground coffee and not forced through a metal filter. That would explain it. It would be interesting to filter two portions of your usual brew through paper and metal. If they taste the same, then it is the loss of the fine particles you are noticing, not absorption of flavor by the paper.

Don't get me wrong; a paper filter can hold onto some soluble flavor species, but if you put 8 cups of coffee through a small filter, the capacity of the paper to hold back the flavor species will be quickly saturated. Only a small fraction of the flavor could be lost.

I was reading the kid's carbon frame thread and realized every inquiry on BF now devolves into one of a few standard jokes.

So you're saying that you're a slow learner?

WhyFi 05-08-17 10:57 AM

These Garmin rubber band mounts are awesome - you can put them anywhere. Say, anyone know how to enter stroller stats in to Strava?

No problem. Go to your activity, then click the pen icon on the left side panel. Under "sport" select "crossfit", then hit save.

Nope. Still no stroller stats. How am I supposed to track my tire mileage?

jtaylor996 05-08-17 11:20 AM

Welp, my new MTB wheels have shipped from China. Xiamen, to be exact. I did a bunch of pro bono technical work for Xiamen University a while back.
