A lot of food talk here but I don't recall a discussion on the pros and cons of dumpster-diving while cycling.

Maybe I should start a thread.

Because your buy 2 helmet plan is cost effective?

Don't go bringing your fancy CPA maths in to this.

Hey Bah Humbug, you'll appreciate this.

I have a friend who races Ironman and Half Ironman tris. She is the type that actually tries to win.

She was originally a runner but can't run much anymore because of an injury.

Last week we were riding and she was telling me how she had signed up for a marathon and wasn't sure why, she hasn't run except in a recent half-Ironman in ages. Had a semi-idea that she wanted to qualify for the Boston Marathon, as unrealistic as that might be with no training. But when she turned 30 (she's 50 now), she qualified for Boston but then broke her clavicle a few weeks before and didn't get to run. The way she sees it, the qualifying times are just getting easier as she moves up in age groups.

So yesterday she ran the marathon and of course qualified for Boston. Haha says she never wants to run a marathon again, so who knows if she'll do it.

(I'm pretty sure she will.)

:)

Yeah, that pattern of will-she-won't-she (of course she will) is how AG works as well. And yes, once you lay down the foundation for a good aerobic base, it doesn't go away. My old swim coach could win things while on barely training. An NCAA track and XC background will do that, even 20 years later.

I'm just going to hold off until the CBO evaluates.

LAJ jtaylor996 I hope you guys watched or are going to watch the 500 today. Utter insanity, that race is not good for my heart. I need to go in person one of these days.

I got home from my ride and the little lady was all "ooh, they're playing 3 episodes of Murder She Wrote today." I was all "I think Indy 500 is on."

Indy is on tape, and watching it as we speak. Unfortunately, I had a pesky Z2-3 ride to pop out before I was able to watch it. 72 miles, 6500 feet elevation. 4:33:00 with 4:38:00 total time. The only stops were stoplights. Yep. I was motivated to get that thing over with so I could watch this race.

Monaco was Monaco.

Monaco should be removed from the calendar. Happy to see a Scuderia 1-2 and my boy DR 3rd, but it is utterly useless for these cars. I have tickets to Canada in 2 weeks but life circumstances may prevent me from attending, we will see.

Enjoy Indy, it's one of the best I've seen in many years for lots of reasons.

Despite my bald spot getting burned badly when I go out walking without a cap, it never gets burned or tanned while I'm riding with a helmet. I've never been able to figure that out.

Also, I couldn't find my SPF 70, so I made do with SPF 50. Hello melanoma!

I can't find a sunscreen higher than 50 that I am not sensitive to after a few applications. But Banana Boat Sport 50 never bothers me. I'm pretty confident that is good enough. 1/50th of normal sunshine is a kind of low level, doncha think?

I saw the crash video...

Bah Humbug 05-28-17 03:53 PM

Oh, and my new copy of the 70-200/2.8ISii? It's clearly sharper than the refurb I got that I returned. Quite happy with what I see from shooting a sheet of paper across the room. Tomorrow AG will be the run leg of a relay for CapTex and that will be the real test. Carrying the 40STM pancake in my pocket for podium and general post-race use.

Coppertone (the general Coppertone, not Water Babies) is so bad it makes me look and feel like I got the flu. It's awful.

Well here I am in the Indianapolis burbs. The bike re-assembled in lightning fast time. The rain began just as I was finishing up. I hope to get out early tomorrow, before the festivities begin. I am the judge of a mac and cheese bakeoff, so I'll want to work up an appetite.

Triple Thumbs Up!!!! That was awesome. Many reasons, is right.

I hope you get to go to Canada, as that's actually a track that cars can race on.
