Just realized that 'to go guy' thread got closed. Guess I'll have to go check it out.

Left my bike in the shop for the warranty claim today. Hope they give me a brand new Madone for my troubles.

ikr

I had just finished a SCORCHING reply. Scorching I say. And couldn't post it. Rats.

Since I got back from Asia (time zone was 13 hours ahead) I really haven't slept much. Like 3 hours a night, tops. Jet lag is hitting me hard, but honestly I still feel pretty normal here at work. The human body is impressive.

Come think of it, I might need to get some takeout today as my gf will be gone for dinner. What should I go for?

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:32 PM

What are the options offered in your immediate locality? Someone a bit earlier on was talking about Irish take-out. What is that, exactly--mutton?

I must explain something to the new guys here . . . we don't drag drama from other parts of the forum into Addiction. It ain't that kind of party in here, thank you. :)

Please, no.

Probably something exotic like Tex-Mex.

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:33 PM

Mea culpa! :(

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:33 PM

Do they do decent fish tacos in St. Louis?

Hmmm, Pizza, noodles, burgers, Indian, Arab, probably missing something.

I had Chipotle for the first time while in Purdue. My teammates where surprised I never had it before. It was alright I guess, better than McDonalds.

I don't know. I never have fish tacos.

EDIT: I had some while in Mexico earlier this year and they were disgusting.

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:36 PM

Oh. Scratch that, then. You don't like fish? :(

Why is this even a question if that's an option? 10/10 would eat Indian for every meal if I could.

There's actually a big Indian community in Thailand, and one of the street vendor delicacies is "banana pancakes". It's basically roti with nutella and banana slices, plus condensed milk. Delicious.

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:38 PM

Nutella is carcinogenic, haven't you heard? Too late for me. I'm a gonner.

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:40 PM

OK. Carnitas then.

Or, in honor of Dan, some Pad Thai. Oh, oh. Better scratch that too because it has shrimp in it . . . . in fact, it smells like holy hell when it is cooking.

Yes, I really like fish. Fish tacos though, they seem a bit odd to me. Maybe because where I lived we're like five hours away from the sea. They've always seemed like an American thing, even though I am sure they are a thing on the Mexican coasts.

You're probably right. I do love Indian food. Curiously, of the food I can get around here, Indian is the one that reminds me the most of Mexican food. Even more than Mexican food.

PepeM 04-10-17 01:41 PM

Carnitas are delicious but you can't get proper ones within like a 1000 mile radius from here.

Ok, let's all figure this out. It was my understanding that the palm oil, when subject to high temperatures produced carcinogens (you know, like anything that gets burned). But I was under the impression that Nutella's response was that the palm oil did not see anything near those temperatures during production. I think the report was more directed at all the naked goods involving Nutella.

Scarbo 04-10-17 01:45 PM

Oh yeah--Veracruz, Mazatlán, Mulege over in Baja--fish tacos is what people eat all the time.

What do you mean by "naked" goods? :D

The concept of BBQ is almost always better than the reality, at least in Philly. One exception is Korean BBQ. There is a place that still uses coals instead of gas, but it's a bit of a drive through a not-so-nice 'hood.
