Have the iPhone 7 now. I know it's not "waterproof", rather it's just "water resistant". Still, should I bother putting it in a plastic baggie when I ride with it in my pocket? It's in a case, but I'm thinking sweat would be bad for it regardless of supposed durability.

I heard the 7 is supposed to be more water resistant than the rest of their phones but I still bag mine if I think I might get caught out in a storm. Yesterday, however, I did not bag it and did get caught in a gully-washer. The phone was in a back jersey pocket and seemed to handle the rain fine.

Warning: I had a 6+ and never had a problem with bending after accidentally sitting down with the phone but my 7+ is bent and I have no idea when I did it. It was in a Quad-Lock case at the time and I have no idea if that was the cause. Regardless, it works fine but the screen is slightly distorted and is annoying when reading pages with lots of type like ebooks or even forums.

My guess: It's slang for refrigerator that has its origin in Frigidaire.

But the d is in a different place. Besides my question was just a devious way of correcting the spelling of frig.

Is that what you say to your mechanic?

I don't have a mechanic, nor do I have any desire to do anything with a bicycle other than ride it.

My car is very beat up (most body panels, cracked windshield). Not sure on the new minivan or the roof yet.

Yikes. The day of the epic tornado outbreak in 2011, we had a hailstorm here (no tornado, thankfully). Lots of dinged up cars and lots of roofs were replaced that year

So . . . how much did we eat today?

LesterOfPuppets 04-11-17 04:08 PM

New phone day for me yesterday. It takes a nano Sim so I gotta grab one of those today to really get it going.

Went with the Moto G5 plus.

Typical lunch.

I have to go ride up and down Lookout Mountain now. Thankfully, it won't be 23 times.

Just muesli with yoghurt and a mug of coffee (white) so far. but the day is young.

The chefs got a lesson in Yucatec cooking. Several sauces, cochinita pibil, brazos de reina, sopa de lima, tortitas de papa. Being vegetarian, I only had access to the tortitas, the brazos and a lovely salad. More of the same for dinner.

Cool. Perused the launch reviews and it seems like a compelling value. Did you get the Prime version or no? I haven't seen what the lock screen ads look like, so I'm curious.

OMG I have some clients who make me want to shoot myself in the head. They think the dog has a nerve injury as the cause of his non-weight-bearing left thoracic limb lameness.

So I point out the massively swollen left elbow joint, the decreased range of motion in the left elbow joint, the pain when I manipulate the elbow joint and the draining tract in the skin overlying the left elbow joint, with pus coming out. Yes there could be a nerve injury too but your dog has an infection in his left elbow joint, lookee here on the xray how the bone is all gnarly looking, exactly how it looks when the joint is infected.

During the appointment they argued with me for 30 min about the need for the xray and then when I go over the xrays they argued with me for 30 min more. Super nice dog though, really made me want to go to bat for him. But those folks he's hooked up with now- not too bright...

Naww, I was afraid of the ads, so got the standard one. It took weeks to choose between G5 and the the bigger screen, but slower & older G4.

90% already. Have to get it all in between 11AM and 7PM, which means stuffing face all day in the office.

Kitten season is back! Mom and her five kittens currently using the spare room. :)

I love cochinita pibil.

Here's another one:

Last week I saw a husky puppy. Can only take a few steps then collapses, problem has been going on for months, getting worse.

I look at the dog attempt to walk and the symptoms are classic for a disease called myasthenia gravis. This is when the dogs own immune system attacks the connection between the nerve and the muscle.

So I tell the owners: Here's the scoop, I'm gonna test for this disease in two ways. First, there's a blood test and if that's positive, we have our diagnosis. But sometimes that test comes back falsely negative and since the treatment is a semi-big deal (I have to suppress your dog's immune system for awhile), in the meantime while we're waiting for the blood test to come back, start this antidote medication. If the blood test comes back negative but the symptoms go away with the medication, then will have our diagnosis and I will still be ok supressing your dogs immune system and eventually she will likely be cured.

I send home three days of the antidote medication and then write a prescription for the rest. The medication is pretty expensive so we don't keep much on hand in the hospital. Today the test comes back negative so I call to check on the dog.

Good news! She got totally 100% normal on the antidote medication!
Bad news! Three days later all the symptoms came back!

Why? They never went to the pharmacy to pick up the dog's medication. :bang:

One thing I don't like is how far the camera sticks out. I might have to get my first ever phone case to help get that tucked away a bit.

I kind of thought that might be the case. I like onlycarbonwheels on eBay. Also lightbicycle.com has some nice rims and wheels. I just built a pair of those for a "customer".

From what I've seen lightbicycle is now known as very good quality, and are starting to price like they know it.

As someone who makes products, anything you sell that requires a protective case is FAIL. One that still breaks in a freaking case is quite honestly a piece of ****. A very thin piece of ****.

I just don't get people sometimes (OK, a lot of the time). I'd see this fairly routinely in day-to-day medicine, but I don't get taking a pet to a specialist such as yourself if the owners are unwilling to follow-through with care? Why even make an appointment?

Ramona_W 04-11-17 06:46 PM

We have been watching "Grace and Frankie" on Netflix and I'm enjoying it a lot. It has actually made me LOL. Right now, I'm impatiently waiting for LoP to catch up so we can start season two. Basically, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin were married to Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston for 20 years then Martin and Sam announced they were gay and in love with each other and hilarity and heartbreak ensued. Some of the characters- especially Lily Tomlin's- don't hold back on the language and euphemisms are not used but if that doesn't bother you, I highly recommend the show.
