Sadly, today was LoP's last day at the Rock Springs Walmart and he didn't receive a card or any cake from his co-workers. I'm very disappointed in them. :foo:

From what I've seen lightbicycle is now known as very good quality, and are starting to price like they know it.

$340 for a pair of carbon rims. Not too bad.

Congrats @LoP

Yeah, I'm pretty p.o.'ed about it.

I refuse to buy a 7. I'm trying to murder my 6's battery to the point where they'll let me pay for a replacement... which they currently won't because they run some **** test that says it's ok, but then goes dead right in front of the guy 2 minutes later.

seedsbelize 04-11-17 08:15 PM

Are carbon spokes a requirement for carbon rims? Are there rim brakes for carbon rims?

LAJ 04-11-17 08:15 PM

Many people don't deserve dogs. That's about as far as I dare go.

f4rrest 04-11-17 08:19 PM

Yikes Heathpack it sounds difficult to deal with clients like that.

I hate to say it, but LesterOfPuppets is the lucky one, and they're pissed. The have to stay in that godforsaken place, and he's escaping. He should be buying them some cake.

Congrats!

Speaking of dogs: it turns out the chihuahua's name is Tiny. She was pretty overjoyed to see her people today!!! Back home where she belongs. Dug under the backyard fence, it turns out.

:)

Nice! I was just getting ready to ask about that little rascal!

Welcome to AZ, LoP.

I left as soon as possible.

I just don't get people sometimes (OK, a lot of the time). I'd see this fairly routinely in day-to-day medicine, but I don't get taking a pet to a specialist such as yourself if the owners are unwilling to follow-through with care? Why even make an appointment?

The dog was referred to me in Nov. Came for an appt in April.

But weirdly they did every test I recommended and seem to like the dog quite a bit. And aside from the dog spending 4 months unable to take more than a few steps at a time, no harm done in the long run. Same prognosis now as it was then.

Today was one of those days, though. I saw an elderly Boston Terrier yesterday for a new onset of seizures. Probably a brain tumor and the owners reasonably don't want to go too far in definitively diagnosing that.

Ok, well lets at least start seizure medication. Best option for this dog (because of concurrent illness) is an expensive medication. I can sell it to them but honestly it will be 1/3 the cost if they go to Costco. They say fine, I send a prescription over to Costco.

Today:
Phone call #1: Can we send the prescription over to Costco? Ans: Already did, you were supposed to start it yesterday
Phone call #2: Can they get the medication from us instead? They're afraid to leave the dog unattended and they can't go into Costco with the dog. Ans: Um, ok. But you can leave the dog unattended for 5 mins. And also: there's two of you right? One can stay home with the dog while the other one goes to Costco. Whatever. Come pick up the meds.
Phone call #3: What time should they give the medication? Ans: It doesn't matter, just morning & night, 12 hours apart, whatever time works for you. (Nope. They would not accept that answer. Finally: fine. 9am and 9pm works best for me. Lol.)

Food news flash: I have discovered Hot Cross Buns. They are remarkably like little individual panettones. Full of candied fruit and spices. Incredible. The nursery rhyme never did them justice.

We'll probably see a Single Payer system for animals in this country before we see one for people.

Did he persist?

No.
Sorry.
I have zero experience with plastic wheels. They just don't make sense to me.

A little bit. He said something about needing to get a bigger ladder and take a closer look at our roof. I told him not to bother.

Do you just get a new bike when something breaks?

It sounds like the owners are also elderly. and slightly confused.

OMG I have some clients who make me want to shoot myself in the head. They think the dog has a nerve injury as the cause of his non-weight-bearing left thoracic limb lameness.

So I point out the massively swollen left elbow joint, the decreased range of motion in the left elbow joint, the pain when I manipulate the elbow joint and the draining tract in the skin overlying the left elbow joint, with pus coming out. Yes there could be a nerve injury too but your dog has an infection in his left elbow joint, lookee here on the xray how the bone is all gnarly looking, exactly how it looks when the joint is infected.

During the appointment they argued with me for 30 min about the need for the xray and then when I go over the xrays they argued with me for 30 min more. Super nice dog though, really made me want to go to bat for him. But those folks he's hooked up with now- not too bright...

Oh boy
