CC does it right. A shame on the kit, but they don't mess around. The same goes for Excel.

Not sure whether I should do the shock myself. LBS says $30 labor, and probably $25 parts.

Amazon says $33 parts, $21 bushing tool, and then $7 fluid. But then I'd have a new tool...

So there was one casualty from my EPIC crash the other day. Tore broke the buckle on my SIDI's. It's a shame the buckles are so expensive on amazon ($25) that I had to get them from competitive cyclist ($12) and then add another $38 of stuff on been-meaning-to-get to my cart to get the free shipping.

Also, I think maybe my rear shock is leaking oil. That's not related to the crash, just time for a rebuild. Was major disappoint when CC didn't have the kit :(

Sidis are BOMBPROOF. I'm impressed. Lemme get PT'd up and worked out so I can fall down some mountains as well. :crash:

Well, my road shoes were fine, but the MTB version of the same shoe ain't fairing so well. First the cleat slipping thing, and now needs a buckle. This is from only ~100 hours usage. Granted I'm a megawatt maniac, but still...

I'm confused. I can find 10 speed mechanical all day long, but I do agree on the electric. I have a spare nearly new front and rear 6770 set that's actually worth its weight in gold nowadays. I'm almost tempted to go to 11 speed and sell all that stuff to finance the change, with money left over.

I was looking for specific 10 speed derailleurs. I wanted either Ultegra GS 10 speed in Shimano or X9 or X0 in SRAM. My LBS's had no end of X5 SRAM which I didn't want and Red that I didn't want to pay for. I have X9 10 speed on another bike that works great with TT shifters.

They also had DA at extravagant prices but no Ultegra.

Off to the internet and again, tons of X5 and the GX stuff but I wanted either X9 or X0, preferably X9. Not much luck if you want it quick. Most places cited two weeks which to me means they were drop shipping it from a supplier and didn't have it in stock. Same with the Shimano stuff. If a place had an Ultegra GS, they had a two week lead time or an extravagant price for some reason.

I did finally find a decent priced one at a shop in Iowa and was going to order it when one of my local shops called and said they had a nib 105 GS, so I bought it. I admit it; I'm a snob. I don't usually stoop to 105 but I want it now. ;)

Anyway, I checked Amazon, eBay and several mail-order places and most of them had some glitch like out of stock, long lead times, or even advertising X9s in 9 speed as 10 speed. I saw that several times.

I don't buy from Performance/Nashbar for two reasons:

1. Their shipping sucks unless you pay extra.
2. My credit card was compromised on their site a few years ago and had to get a new card.

Didn't even consider checking there.

However, your point is well taken. You win.

Why the rush?

My 2004 vintage bike has an 8 speed cassette. I am not an early adopter of technology. I am hoping to get three more years out of it and then I will buy a new bike. Probably a 12 speed but maybe I will only have 1 chain ring to simplify things.

On a related subject, what will they be serving at the penman's 25K party?

seedsbelize 06-29-17 08:17 PM

25th what?

BillyD 06-29-17 09:08 PM

Wow, Photobucket has just essentially kicked out all the riffraff (like myself) that use their free site to post pictures. Bastids!

Now they are not allowing any image linking unless you sign up for paid membership, at least $100/yr.

Pfffttt, that's not happening.

Same here. Much easier to let someone else deal with it.
