I've read that many organic foods aren't any better for you than regular foods.

A controversy that echos from cycling. What do you think about a runner who was twice caught using performance enhancing drugs who's still allowed to compete?

I feel like I might need a cigarette. I went out on Old Blue today(not really blue, but you get the gist). I took one bottle of electrolytes and another bottle plain, and honestly could have used more. This for an hour and a half ride!

I'm still using a Zefal HPX4, which takes up my entire seat tube, which makes it difficult to carry more water. I imagine pump tech. has improved with the rest of the industry in the last 25 years or so. Any recommendations for a jersey pocket sized 100 psi pump?
Thanks

The Tour de Tonka, however, had the very serious cyclists start the 100-mile course at a different time and location than the shorter courses. The number of riders at the TdT is was also considerably higher (there were ~800 riders signed up for the 100-mile ride) and there seemed to be a number of clubs/teams that participated.

If you're going to buy one, at the very least I'd recommend one that connects with the valve via a tube, which gives you a little more leeway when pumping - with the small, direct-connect variety, pumping can get quite vigorous and some have reported slipping and tearing off a valve in the process. I have a Lezyne Road Drive (or whatever) that's acceptable for something that's jersey-pocketable. If I were to get a new one, though, I'd probably get one of the mini floor pump variety - Lezyne has one and I think that Topeak does, too.

I think that one of the issues with the MAJOR is that the rides of differing lengths all start from the same spot, so you'd have both very serious cyclists, like @RPK79 and I, and the 20-mile putterers all jumbled up. Rather than get mixed up in that, we've always left a little early (yet we've never been passed by a group of thunder thighs, so go figure).

Pump tech may have improved, but physics haven't changed. 100 psi is a chore with a small pump any way you slice it.

Dunno. That I saw, there wasn't any method of counting/comparing the number that started, finished or missed the timed cut-off points along the route. The weather was cooperative and it's a very flat course, though, so I would imagine that most that started could have limped over the line in the time allotted, if they had to.

The other tactic is to get the old fogies to leave and draw in the young crowd, who buy more drinks anyway.

Don't be fooled, it's not about the nutrition, that's the same. It's about the absence of pesticides and the crappy food meals the farm animals have been fed. A grass-fed cow has better, healthier meat than a crap-fed cow. A free range chicken has better, healthier meat than a caged chicken. A wild-caught salmon has better, healthier meat than a farm-raised salmon. And let's not even get started about GMO and all the grains we eat.

Oh, yeah, back to the question at hand, I used CO2. With all the cows farting in Wisconsin around me, I figure the CO2 loss in to the atmosphere was miniscule compared to them.

I am guessing it's the fault of your witch doctor and the MTX. But that's just an educated guess. MTX causes anemia due to bone marrow suppression. If it's mild, you live with it. If it's more than mild, you reconsider your treatment options.

Lol - I've been seeing a weird pattern of people favorite-ing some of my photos on Flickr; photos that aren't really posted elsewhere in groups, collages, etc. Well, clicking on the user profiles of those doling out the favorites shows that they all seem to be female, they all seem to indicate that they're in to no-strings-attached, um, relationships and they all have links on their profile page that lead to some kind of dating/hook-up site.
I mean, I guess that as far as photo hosting sites are concerned, I'd rather deal with Flickr where "users" are looking to **** as opposed to photobucket where the host is looking to **** you over.

I had a flat on today's ride and my average changing time over the last 35 years is ~6 minutes. So, the guys timed me today at 5'20". It was a front wheel so I didn't even hurry.

I am not fully convinced that HFCS is any worse than cane sugar. I think small amounts of these are probably ok. Obviously the American diet has way too much and that's a problem. I am open to the possibility that HFCS may be more evil than sugar, but no good proof that I have seen.

Nothing says fun like a technical crit course in the rain. The only thing that can top that is half the course being wet. And not soaking wet, either. Just wet enough to make it as slick as can be. So, one half was basically dry, and it was full gas, then the other half was ice, and it was much more cautious. I can honestly say I caught up to and rejoined the pack after going sideways and missing a wreck. I wasn't worth much of a crap after that, but I did do that.
