Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am wondering how much you would have to pay me to get me to ride on gravel. Pretty big number.

We you better get with it. It's the future. Are you riding discs yet? Through axles?

Having spent my entire BF career, up until a year ago, in classic and vintage, I was completely in the dark about anything more recent than the early 90s. It' eye opening over here, to say the least.
Kudos

So the bicycle sculpture has a long history. I will do my best to keep it brief. BTW it's about 5 feet wide.

So way back when I was a young boy, circa 1975, my father worked in NYC. He mentioned that he saw this bicycle sculpture in a gallery in NYC and he really liked it. At the time, my mother was taking a graduate class at NYU so she went to the gallery and secretly bought it for him as a present.
He was delighted with the gift and for many years it hung on the wall in our family room. Later, when they moved to their current home, he had it hanging on the wall in his office at home.

When I got my current job, 16+ years ago, my father was bursting with pride and told me he wanted me to have the bicycle sculpture to hang on my office wall. I initially refused, saying it had too much sentimental value to him. He was firm that it would be very meaningful for him to pass it on to me. So I graciously accepted it, and it has been hanging on my office wall ever since.

TL;DR it's a bicycle sculpture from NYC from 1975 and it is priceless to me

I really like my office btw except it does not have a window. It's got a nice big desk, a leather loveseat, and one wall is full of pictures of my kids from the past and present.

Is that where you go to ignore your patients and post on BF?

Here is another wall in my office with another bike art object. It's a reproduction of a famous painting that's in the National Gallery in DC.

It's where I go to fill out stupid paperwork to precert my patients' medicines and/or imaging tests.
