Tonight I am having a cheap, subpar Italian Zinfandel (Primitivo) wine that is good as a generic red wine with decent acidity and fruit balance but completely devoid of Zinfandel characteristics. It is ok with the pizza I had and what can you expect for $6?

I miss good wine and friends to share it with. Before we came to the Atlanta area we had neighbors that we would have monthly wine nights with the whole nine yards. A wine for each course; appetizer, main course, dessert and then the "closer" wine. This was all done with music and conversation or board games. I knew I had it pretty good when it was going on and hoped it would last but those things usually don't and they didn't.:(
