Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The right studded tires allow you to ride on it OK. The worst problem is cars with no tire studs.

The bikes are the bowling pins and the cars are the bowling balls.

I must admit that I’ve seen worse games than this 1-7 Giants vs 0-9 Fortyniners game.

It will soon be 1-8 Giants, 1-9 Fortyniners. Sad.

Fortunately 60 Minutes is coming on elsewhere.

It makes sense that all trainers should be dumb since riding indoors on them is dumb. Dumb trainer season is here. Boo.

I gave away my two nice dumb trainers. Switched to studded tires. Dumb, but more fun.

Life gave you lemons and you gave them away and found a better solution. Kudos.

My approach is to pout like a baby. You might have the better approach.

There is one down side. Studded tires are not cheap, and they do wear out, depending on how much dry pavement you ride them on. I'm OK with both.

40 seconds 150% or more, 20 seconds rest. Sometimes 4 minutes, sometimes 6, sometimes 8.

For anyone following me on strava. I shut my phone off due to low battery and strava recorded the distance anyway, on a route I wasn't on. Is there any way to undo that? It recorded 40 km more than it should have.

It's great. For an indoor trainer.

Anyone updated their iOS recently? I just did, and am pleasantly surprised by apparent speed improvement.

Smart Trainer purchased. No turning back from the dark side. Where is @surgeonstone? He was pushing this last winter.

I know it can be done, but I have never done it personally.

Results have posted for the TT I missed today.

Damn, I almost certainly would have won it, and tied for the win of the series.

Things have taken an unexpected turn, and not in a good way.

My dad (who's about to turn 70) has experienced headaches/dizziness the last few days. Last night he started having trouble with his balance. It was worse this morning.

So we took him to the hospital. A CT scan reveals blood around the brain. Probably happened within the last few days - two weeks.

He's going to have a procedure in the morning to drain it. Hopefully the least invasive one (with a couple holes) will do it.

The doctor doesn't think it was a stroke. I don't know a lot beyond that.
