Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Very few folks know what the word “practicable” means in most states’ road usage regulations. It means “likely to be successful”, not “practical”. So the law requires bikes to ride as far to the right as is likely to be successful. That basically means far enough left to not allow cars into the lane. Also many jurisdictions have requirements for cars to give bikes 3 feet of clearance. That generally makes it impossible for cars and bikes to occupy the lane together. Reminding cars of this only makes sense.
Are you freakin’ kidding me? What good is it to be right if you’re dead right? Or paraplegic right? You guys who insist on taking the lane are playing Russian roulette, and as they say in the NFL, not for long.

I know you don't like to argue, so I will just say that a not angry driver who tries to fit in a lane with a bike is a bigger hazard than an angry one who sees there is no room to get by. If you can’t take the lane, don’t ride that road. Bikes have no place in the gutter.

Today was the first time I'd bet on football since the early '90s. I should never have picked it up again.

Well, that is a completely new topic.

So how was the pizza? You don’t like something more on the pie besides cheese?

I only like cheese pizza from Ray's.

I got a frozen sausage margherita pizza the other day, though.

qft.

I don't ride right in the gutter. I keep left when riding allowing space for the cars. I also stay far enough into the lane so that I won't get doored. Most of my cycling is done in peak hours on busy roads on my daily commute. I mostly do not excercise my legal right to take the same space as a car for two reasons.
1. It is playing chicken with things bigger than me and it only takes a moment for an (more likely) inattentive driver to hit me if I'm in the middle of the lane.
2. It would be slower to ride in the middle of the lane when the traffice is backed up. When it is not backed up I'm not a fast enough rider not to be a hazard or impediment for other road users (that's also against the law here).

sounds interesting.
I don't get the idea of a plain cheese pizza though. Is it just cheese on the base or does it come with some sauce as well?

There is red sauce. Ray's makes a decent classic NY style pie.

All this talk of pizza is making me hungry. I think I'll walk down to my local pizza place and get some. It's only a fifteen minute walk and it's a nice fine warm evening.

Work can wait. it isn't going anywere.

Ok. That is acceptable. I've done similar things at home with just a plain red sauce/tomato paste and cheese. I thought that it was just cheese alone on the base and I couldn't see the point of that.

You should have bet the team not the spread. Still, I'm surprised we're going to OT probably without Rodgers.

That's one good reason not to use UberEats. There are a lot more very good (but P&R) reasons not to use Uber for anything.

There are two kinds of folks. Those who take the lane and those who don’t. Fair enough.
