Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another day, another concert. I hope to sneak out for a short but real ride afterwards. This morning’s Zwift does not count.

Or does it??

I say it with three syllables unless it's on popcorn or an apple. And there is also Karmel Korn but I couldn't tell you why.

Wonder if the Odyssey could haul the Miata on a trailer?

Could be good for track days. See if you can race Pcad for pinks.

Those are damned near impossible to find these days. I gave up my last one after the VW TDI debacle, but virtually any other car out there doesn't even have that as an option.

Another ~6" of snow overnight and more snowblower fun this morning. Supposed to be sunny and 32° today and ~40°-ish the following three days. IOW, it's gunna be sloppy.

Luckily the base models of both the Fit and Civic come with stick. I really prefer it. Many models of cars still can be had that way.

The "battle" is that I am the only one who can drive it, so if someone else in the family needs my car we are screwed. That's how it is with the Saturn now.

You know which one you want.

Also, I believe @RollCNY has a Fit. We should get an update from him.

Beware the newer fits have 6 speed manual transmissions. Not nearly as nice as the five speed of the older ones. If we get money back, instead of the car, we'll go a little older and 5 speed, or auto. And the newer cvt auto has better rated mpg as well.

I was wondering recently if he was still alive. I guess so. Did you know he's originally from the northern tier?

In theory, that was the case with the Sportwagen. The reality was that the no dealerships bothered bringing them in and it would take quite a long time to get our hands on one. In our case, we had to move across the country in 6 weeks and waiting for a stick just wasn't feasible.

It almost feels like offering a stick is a token gesture that they think few will take advantage of or, if you're more cynical, it's something on offer primarily to nudge the "starting at" price a little lower (assuming that manuals are still less expensive).

In my case, my wife still has a car with a stick (another VW TDI). But my beef is that there are options I would like to have which don't come with the "base" models - the only way to get those is to go to a higher trim level which don't offer a manual as an option. Sometimes things as simple as heated seats (my wife tells me to never purchase a car without heated seats). My current car has two climate zones, which I appreciate as otherwise my wife is constantly turn down the temperature, and I am trying to sneak it back up again because I am freezing. You can't get that in a base trim level car.
