Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hot morning, after a hot night. Coffee doesn't work as well in heat as in cold. We've finally arrived at seasonable weather.
Yesterday was wrenching. One more shakedown ride, and the S&S bike will be broken down and packed for my upcoming trip to Virginia and Indiana.

High humidity. Real feel 88*. It feels much hotter at sunrise than it does a few hours later, after the humidity has subsided some.

Good news on the hub front. Even if CK won't warranty the thing, I learned today that I should be able to simply order a new hub shell, which is least expensive part of the hub.

I had to quote to see the @ mention.

I'll likely Podium for time spent in worst traffic jam this week.

4 hrs inching along in LAX + 3 crashes, one of which turned 8 lanes of traffic into a parking lot at midnight.

I'm still recovering.

Kudos.

Speaking of traffic, had a pretty close call in the auto today. Third in line to make a left turn at the green arrow--a guy comes barreling through the intersection from the right just in front of me. Slammed on his brakes when he finally figured out the light was red and went into the automotive lot.

Guilty as charged.

Fantastic ride today btw. There were lots of hills. I am ok with that.

The pain is pretty much gone but I can't control my fingers very well right now. It's a chore to type.

Don't know if I'll ride later or not. Also, rain.

No. I have a three-day planned for next weekend. My only realistic shot to get in a trip before I head to Vermont. Have to go away for business the weekend of the 19th. The weekend after that is Memorial Day weekend, which means everywhere will be unpleasantly crowded. My train to VT is the following Saturday.
