2nd of 5 for me in my TT, Women's Open division (ie cat 1-5). It wasn't my best TT, in fact it was my lowest power ever on the 40K version of this course. But I'm still adapting to the position, so I'm ok with it. Pretty decent time actually for such puny power.
I'm trying to tempt Mr H into taking the dogz to the beach by fixing all the stuff for a tasty dinner. So far its not working, he's asleep. The plan is grilled chicken sate with homemade banana ginger chutney and coconut basmati rice. And green beans, I think.
Speaking of basmati rice: I got this 20 pound bag of the good stuff from the Persian market for $8. So now its Adventures in Basmati Rice in our household for the near future. We had curried basmati pilaf with chicken, peas and cashews for lunch yesterday. Just ate a little bowl of leftover pilaf. Mmm good.
Maybe the huge sacks of rice have something to do with my slow TT times, lol.

My wife teared up several times the last three days or so but it didn't hit me until I signed the deed transfer where it stated the legal description and then gave the address. That's when I got a little choked up. We had the house built 38 years ago so we know every thing about it. Lots of memories...

Ok, here is the much anticipated commentary that was promised. Again I was time-crunched so I had to get in a ride between catching up on things around the house so I did this ride. I rode up one side of a small dip/valley/gully and then recovered and rode up the other side. I did it three times each way. the one way up is steeper but shorter and the other is less of a climb but longer. I almost gave up after third effort but recovered a little longer and made it through. I have this as a segment on my garmin and put three in the top ten today (4th, 7th and 8th) I have done it 37 times so far since last August. I felt very bad today and have not been working on power much since I only have about an hour I can get in during the week after work. I probably felt bad since i was busting tail up the stupid hill.
Full disclosure: it is really more of a sprint up the steep hill since it is about .3 miles. The easier but longer one is about .7 miles and really gets to me at the end. I am satisfied that I did as well as I did. Maybe all is not lost. I ate a big steak and am having some red wine with an Alleve chaser to celebrate.
More full disclosure: A power meter would tell me I am weak but I already know that. If only I had more time and some EPO.

Kudos.
Speaking of traffic, had a pretty close call in the auto today. Third in line to make a left turn at the green arrow--a guy comes barreling through the intersection from the right just in front of me. Slammed on his brakes when he finally figured out the light was red and went into the automotive lot.

I had to do a drivetrain degreasing when I installed the new crankset the other day - it had been a messy spring and having the shiny new toy get greasy right off the bat just would not do.

Yep. She is a physical therapist.
She is the real deal, her daughter is a professional marathoner. Good genes. Good coach. Gets the work done. Experienced racer. Nice level headed person. Good equipment. Fierce.
Shes a 1%er, would be competitive at the National and World level.
If I ever beat her, it will be quite the achievement. Once I finished within 10 seconds of her. Lol she was racing with broken ribs.
In TTing, it’s important to realize that there’s both intrinsic and extrinsic results. There’s how I do relative to what I’m capable of and what I’ve built upon in the past. And there’s how I do relative to others. There’s definitely times when I come in last but raced way better than when I came in first or second.
I think in crits and road races there’s only really extrinsic results- how you did relative to others. I guess that’s not 100% true, subjectively there’s intrinsic results- how you feel about your execution, what you learned, etc. But in TTs there’s also objective, factual intrinsic results.
Bottom line: it’s good to race against good people, I’d rather race with Nemesis than not.
