Funnily enough, my affinity for the trainer is exactly why I agree with you, and I had to argue quite strongly against counting trainer miles on the tri team. Any fool can rack up trainer "miles" with no worry about lights, or heat, or flats, or cars, or all of that. Only miles count as miles; trainer time is hours only.
My watch has the speed sensor disabled on the "Bike Indoor" profile, so there's no confusion or "forgetting" to remove that workout's distance.

And on Strava, it turns out the actual number is 864 on the nose.

Take a look at the ingredients list. Right off the bat I see HFCS which would immediately turn me off. But let's take a closer look, shall we:

In my opinion you could do worse. But you could also do better. Try oatmeal 3 or 4 times a week instead, takes 5 minutes to cook. Add raisins, cranberries, blueberries or banana, or all of them. Minimize the added salt and sugar. Delicious and nutritious.

Oh, today's ride was also the first time I took my tubeless setup out into the wilds instead of just around COTA. They're nice enough, but I'm not convinced that for my purposes the F5-11Storm is better than the GP4KS with latex tubes. Maybe I'll give the Pro1 a try next year and see if that goes faster.

Told you so.
First ride in two years. Not bad, just need to get back into cycling condition. Came home, took a shower, took a nap (18 min), and made a protein fruit smoothie. Ibuprofen supplies are standing by at the ready.

Thanks fellas! I had to give in to the ibuprofen though to try to get some spring back in my step.

Survived the crit today, and tomorrow is a pesky little thing that starts at 8500 feet, and ends at 11,700.
Bike racing is weird.

No. But we live in a way that is quite different from normal. The main body of our house has only three walls, the fourth being wrought iron bars, screenless doors remain open all day, we live on an acre and a half of mostly wildness, and one of us is quite disorderly. Plenty of opportunity for the mice to enter and attempt to settle in. On the frog front, our pool uses no chemicals and is filtered with the roots of plants thus, more like a pond. We have a large toad and frog population which, every evening awakens and spreads out to the four directions. I don't think Spot goes for the toads, but the tree frog is apparently edible.
But one other memorable thing was the Toad Crossing sign in the hallway of the main house. Toads hopped in and toads hopped out. Normal part of life. It completely made sense in context.
I remember when we got back from Belize the first thing we did was visit my cousin in Orlando and go to Disneyworld. America seemed like the strange place to us then.

Won the State TT today, Women’s 50-54 yr old age group.
Beat the State Road Race Champ by 3.5 min. She was my 30 second woman, the contender besides me, and I passed her at the 13 min mark. It’s a little hard to stay in the effort at that point and I’m not that happy with how I raced. But whatever. Won the thing which was my only real goal on a bike this year.
A teammate won the men’s 35-39 race. My TT women friends, the four of us who race all the local TTs, all won our races- the 45-49, 50-54 (me), 55-59 and women’s cat 4 (the woman who won this one is 57, but the cat 4 distance is 40k whereas the 50-59 is 17k and she wanted to race the longer distance).
I have two more races this week- a 5k and a 10k TT, qualifiers for next year’s National Senior Games. Then: heading to Big Bear to ride mountain bikes. Im thinking of try to do this fondo in Sept. The 50k route. Big Bear Gran Fondo 50k Skyline Right now it would be an achievement for me to just ride this route, period. Let alone do it fast.
