Mmm delicious dinner of warm pesto chicken salad- chicken tossed with baby new potatoes, kalamata olives and chopped red bell pepper. With a dressing made of basil mayo, pesto, Greek yogurt, lemon juice and salt & pepper.
And a mojito because it’s hot out.
Food. I like it.

Won the State TT today, Women’s 50-54 yr old age group.
Beat the State Road Race Champ by 3.5 min. She was my 30 second woman, the contender besides me, and I passed her at the 13 min mark. It’s a little hard to stay in the effort at that point and I’m not that happy with how I raced. But whatever. Won the thing which was my only real goal on a bike this year.
A teammate won the men’s 35-39 race. My TT women friends, the four of us who race all the local TTs, all won our races- the 45-49, 50-54 (me), 55-59 and women’s cat 4 (the woman who won this one is 57, but the cat 4 distance is 40k whereas the 50-59 is 17k and she wanted to race the longer distance).
I have two more races this week- a 5k and a 10k TT, qualifiers for next year’s National Senior Games. Then: heading to Big Bear to ride mountain bikes. Im thinking of try to do this fondo in Sept. The 50k route. Big Bear Gran Fondo 50k Skyline Right now it would be an achievement for me to just ride this route, period. Let alone do it fast.

Dammit! The spring assist on our garage door broke last night. BOING! After we returned home from dinner. The wooden door is stupid heavy. No way even two guys can lift it without the spring. I was able to get an appointment with my repair guy for noon today, but Mrs. rpen isn’t happy about not being able to get to the gym this morning. And repair guy may have to order a heavy duty model that will take another couple days to arrive. At least he has a jack for lifting the door so we can get the cars out. Stay tuned.

Speaking of food....I put some black beans, brown rice, and leftover greens, topped with cheddar in the microwave, for one minute 20. Last evening. Remembered it at 04:30 and put it in the fridge. I will try again for lunch.
Pro tip: When the memory starts to go and you tell yourself it's just temporary, realize, for godsake, that it's not ever coming back.
