If I disappear, please alert the authorities that the serious cyclists on charity rides are the prime suspects. It's been nice knowing you all. Bye.

The water bugs must have scared everyone else away.
Do you put much weight on Sed rate (ESR) testing?

Bike-train-bike commute to NJ the next three days.

My INR was 2.7 last Friday. For my valve, between 2 and 3 is ideal.

Well, the ESR is a very general marker for inflammation in your system, but it's very nonspecific so it could mean anything from having a virus or a cold to having an autoimmune condition or even cancer. So it's not normal to be elevated, but lots of things make it abnormal. It's complicated.

I know money can't buy you speed, but I think having a smart trainer with pre-programmable workouts (be it Zwift or whatever) is the absolute best way to get fast in a hurry. My trainer is dumb so any structure I do on it is based on HR in Zwift, and even just with that I feel significantly stronger after a week doing a bit of intentional work on the trainer than a week JRA outside.

Why the train?
My prior witch doctor routinely had included it in my testing. This one doesn't. Why would be a question for her, of course, but I'm just curious how medically useful it is. You don't need a blood test to see that I've got inflammation going on.

That is such a weird word to have as a trigger. What's wrong with acknowledging that people have different levels of commitment to a sport or hobby?

So I came up to a red light here (riding in the right lane):
Laying on its side in the middle of the center lane was a cooler, with some ice and water bottles spilled on the road.
I, of course, did not need any water, so it had no appeal to me. I wondered if I should remove it from the roadway. When you factor in having to park the bicycle, it's really no easier for me than for someone to hop out of their car.
Anyway, whilst I was deliberating, a guy came from across the street and retrieved said items. It was unclear whether he had lost them, or if he was a vulture.

It might have been in LCF, no joking around in there, they take "serious" seriously.

I liked 7 enough, but now that I'm on a chromebook, I'm ready to let windows fall by the wayside. Refreshing, to say the least.

Phone message of the day, left for me in regard to one of my colleague's cases. Monday is colleague's day off.
"Ms X called and she got called for jury duty and needs to bring Bitsy in for a recheck around then and it wondering in Dr. Colleague can write a doctor's note to get her out of jury duty"
1. This is stupid.
2. Dr. Colleague is not in the office on Mondays so why are you leaving me this message?
3. Somebody besides me call this lady back and talk to her.
One of my nurses calls her to explain Dr. Colleague is not in today, but that fact aside its doubtful that a veterinarian could write a note to a judge to get a human out of jury duty. She asks when the jury duty is relative to the dog's scheduled recheck.
Oh, the owner does not know. Because she hasn't opened the envelope to read what it says inside. But on the outside of the envelope it does say that if owner does not report to jury duty she will be fined. WTF that seems harsh.
Oh, not harsh. The owner has been throwing away all the jury duty summonses without opening them for months now (!!!!).
My nurse to her: sorry you are just going to have to figure this one out on your own.

Then there are stories like this:
https://www.capegazette.com/article/...working/161252
In May, international engineering firm GHD reviewed with commissioners the results of a $250,000 state-mandated study into the city’s stormwater system. The study’s data showed in the six hours immediately following six major storms during the study period, ocean water near the city’s five stormwater outfalls from Grenoble Place south to Delaware Avenue averaged nearly 2,000 colony-forming units of enterococcus per 100 milliliters. The recommended level of colony-forming units is zero to 60.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control issues swimming advisories when enterococcus levels are greater than 104 colony-forming units per 100 milliliters. Enterococcus is found in the gut of all warm-blooded animals.
