Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One of my cyclist friends (the one who rode Alpe de Huez SIX times in one day) told me the LBS found a crack in his crabon frame. I don’t know any details and am hoping it’s just in the exterior but it’s possible his bike is done for. It’s an Eddy Merckx that’s about 7 years old.

A cf Merckx is surely worth repairing it - it's not aluminum for chrissake. Prolly 300-400 bucks. Or, if it's a ~56, I'll pay for shipping and he can send it my way instead of junking it/hanging it on the wall.

Not a good day. Ran out of dark roasted coffee beans and had to mix in some medium roasted coffee beans that were a gift. The results that I am experiencing are not stellar. Also, my streak of no work weekends is about to end. At least the weather is lousy and I'm not missing good riding conditions.

I might be able to ride outside later and things are looking up so that's good. Better than being a salted peanut.

The lighter the roast the higher the caffein. Clearly you are more for flavor than zip. To each his/her own.

I plan on riding today, for the third day in a row. I got off kilter there for a few weeks, but things are looking up for getting back on. I stopped and bought a box of Naprosyn tabs during yesterday's ride, as both knees were bothering me. I intended to take another 8 hours later, but forgot, and had no pain during the night nor this morning. Between the stretching and the chemicals I may be able to lick this thing.

Yep, I prefer the flavor of dark roast. I can get more caffeine by drinking more cups. Win-win.

Had some ghirardelli 72% dark chocolate and it sucked. My wife likes dark chocolate and after seeing your post I thought I would give it a whirl. #mistake

That is a good question. In defense of our furry little friend it looks like you could do serious damage to the hubs or bb sealed or not. Of course, I have already proven I lack some understanding about bike related things. Think $200 upgrade.

I will tell him. I think the BB area is cracked but bike is at LBS. I do believe it is a 56.
