Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've walked through snow in Guatemala. Just a light drizzle, but snow nonetheless.

A light snow drizzle is pretty much summer after a winter in the midwest.

LMAO. So, Colin is going to a friend's bday party later today. The bday boy's mom just contacted my wife about a little extra playtime for her son and Colin - either before or after the party and bday boy's mom would be happy to do the picking up/dropping off. To my wife, who's in the midst of taking apart of the kids' room (getting rid of the girl's crib, putting in a small bed for her), getting Colin out of the way for an extra hour sounds like a great idea, so she says "sure!"

"Great! What time should we drop him off at your place?" is the reply from bday boy's mom.

Ah yup. Bday boy's mom was a bit vague and loose with the pronouns - dropping off/picking up "him" was in reference to her son, not ours. She was asking my wife to babysit her kid for an extra hour, not offering to take our kid off our hands for an extra hour. And yeah, my wife accidentally agreed to it. Oops.

Oh, and I laughed at her gaff, so now she's mad at me.

So are you watching the boys, or swapping the room around?

Ha. You know the score. I wouldn't say that I'm watching the boys, but I am keeping an ear out for any screaming/injuries.

Married with children for over 30 years, sometimes laughter is not the best medicine.

Is this flooding keeping you away from work? That could be a plus. More time with the trumpet. And why a trumpet rather than a cornet? They tried to talk me into a cornet in the fifth grade. I should have listened.

Boy you people are so lucky, they obviously hadn't invented musical instruments yet back when I was in grade school, otherwise why would they have not offered lessons to us? On the other hand, we DID learn the hell out of some 3Rs!

No, the roads weren't a problem until yesterday, and now much of that has subsided.

I can't say why the cornet drifted out of favor. I don't think I've ever played one.
