It's so damn windy out that I wouldn't feel safe on a bike. And I'm not riding lately anyway due to the heat. I will re-grease that dynamo hub today though, and go out this evening, after the wind and the heat have died down.

Random question. Maybe because I am veg, but I find the smell of cooked fish to be quite unpleasant. My office is near the lunchroom and sometimes employees microwave their lunch, and when someone makes fish it stinks (to me at least) and the smell lingers for awhile. I imagine I should just shut up but is there a role to ask people not to bring fish?

Snow is coming down pretty good - prolly the right call to cancel school. What amazes me, though, are the clueless people that go out with their clearly insufficient tires. Tertiary roads are a little more passable, but not yet cleared, and you can't even make it down your own block without bogging down and needing a push or three. Yet you still think it's a good idea to head out? You'll probably have to turn off of the busier roads again, but even if you make it to where you're going, your own street isn't going to be plowed by the time you head back home, which means it's going to be ever worse when you come back. Then what?

Maybe you could coerce a subordinate to discretely leave a sign, a $5/wk raise should do it.

Mrs datlas has a snow day today. She already Kondo-Maried the house, so she insisted we work on the crawl space (unfinished part of the basement). We have a ton of empty boxes there (any time we get something in a medium or bigger size box, we typically throw the box there in case we need to return it or for when we move)...
So we just went through a huge load of boxes and got rid of 80% of them. Breaking them down to recycle is now a work in progress.
I would much prefer to be on a ride.

Thanks to a wonderful youtube video, I was able to service the drive side bearings in the dynohub (Shimano calls them unservicable), and went for a short test ride. I'd forgotten how nice it is to ride at night.

Holy cow! Another guy from my high school in the news. He was definitely a Nazi for over 30 years, he was skinheading around and reading Mein Kampf when he was 15.
