Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This article says that measles gives you something it calls "immune amnesia." So if I give myself the measles, will it rid me of autoimmunity?

Discuss.

Mama tomato and baby tomato we're walking down the street. Being a toddler baby tomato had trouble keeping the pace of Mama tomato. Mama tomato repeatedly had to stop and admonish baby tomato to stay with her. Finally, after this had continued for quite some time Mama tomato stopped and angrily yelled at baby tomato; "catch up!"

@Velo Vol are you riveted to your TV watching the exciting NASCAR action in sunny Atlanta.

in unrelated news, I rode my bike today and it was windy but I didn't hear any bombs going off.

Nope.

Hip was annoying enough today that, combined with the windiness, I didn't feel like trying to ride. Possible it could happen sometime this week.

P.S. Think of all this life-sustaining water flowing one mile from your border. So close, but so far.

Indeed. You should make a point of finding a place and trying it out. Meat is prominent, but there are lots of good veg options.

It’s likely a fool’s errand, but I am retrying running again. In the past 10 days I have had 4 runs. Slowly increasing my distance. So far they have been 1, 1.3, 1.5, and 1.7 miles. Baby steps. Might go for 2 miles in a couple days.

To my wife, who's in the midst of taking apart of the kids' room (getting rid of the girl's crib, putting in a small bed for her), getting Colin out of the way for an extra hour sounds like a great idea, so she says "sure!"

"Great! What time should we drop him off at your place?" is the reply from bday boy's mom.

Ah yup. Bday boy's mom was a bit vague and loose with the pronouns - dropping off/picking up "him" was in reference to her son, not ours. She was asking my wife to babysit her kid for an extra hour, not offering to take our kid off our hands for an extra hour. And yeah, my wife accidentally agreed to it. Oops.

Oh, and I laughed at her gaff, so now she's mad at me.

Love Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. It’s fresh, nutritious, full of vegetarian and vegan options. I am slowly learning the basics of cooking it and I have a big ol’ jar of preserved lemons going at all times.

Note:
I was experiencing exercise induced fatigue today. Do not fear for DougRNS! A nap was taken and I have recovered sufficiently to operate at my normal awesome level.

I wish my legs were up for running. Do you have any idea how boring walking is?

There's a small Middle Eastern store a mile from where I work. I've never been in it. Not much of an adventurer eater.

If they've got a Mezza Platter, grab one of those.
