Today I learnt that a long sleeve base layer, a long sleeve winter jersey, a light jacket, mid weight neck gaiter and fingerless gloves are uncomfortable at the beginning of a ride when it’s windy and 38 F. Then it becomes somewhat borderline warm when wind stops. Feet are cold with aero covers over light toe warmers. Gotta do something about that. Though, I’ve come across another rider wearing the exact same shoes without any protective/thermal covers and decided perhaps I should HTFU.

YMMV.
We had a fantastic ride btw. Definitely beats fake miles.

We had a lot of hills on today’s ride. One rider was struggling a bit and so I suggested he mix up his technique. I told him to try “old school” climbing style with hands on tops, slide back in saddle, and pull on bars.
He looked at me like I was crazy.

The only advice most cyclist want, is advice that they want to hear. If it doesn't align with their thinking, it's wrong.

Got to do my group ride today. On the one side it was awesome, I felt great had some of the strongest pulls of the group, and only three of us made it to the end. On the other hand bitter sweet, prolly the last group ride for who knows when, and I forgot to turn on strava. Missed out on some good PR.
Also my cassette started to dietoday. I cleaned it really well after my last ride and relubed everything but today it was skipping bad. It started skipping right at the beginning of the ride so I didn’t even think I would be able to finish, I was able to find about two gears that wouldn’t skip, and just mashed my way through the ride.
Pretty Bummed, I know I made the desicion to replace the group set but it will still be a little bit before I can afford to buy it. I think I can prolly suck it up and ride it a little longer like this, but if it gets much worse it won’t be ride able at all.
I don’t think I did anything when I cleaned it, but maybe I ****ed it up.

I could tell that on today’s ride, the RD cable is starting to fray again. I economized my rear shifting and was able to finish without cable breaking.
I have a whole set of new brake and shifter cables and housing that I was planning to put on the Habanero this winter, I think this is a sign that it’s time.
While I have the Habby under repair I will ride the Roubaix. Funny thing, I have the stock rear wheel for the Roubaix taken out and have a crappy Forte Titan in its place. I made that switch over a year ago and can’t remember why. I must be getting old.

Its a 9 speed. I appreciate it, but the whole drive train is on its way out. I have to spray my rear shifter with wd40 once a week to keep it going. I was hoping it would last til I bought the new one. If it gets worse there is an old small bicycle shop that carries a lot of used and old bikes, I’ll see if they have a spare cassette.

Unused DT Swiss PRC 1450 35mm disc wheels. They’re the OEM for the current Cervélo R5 and like the PRC 1400, but with 350 instead of 240 hubs. $1075 the set. Should I buy them? WWWHYFID?

$500.00 off of what I've seen from The Pro's Closet, and other re-sellers. Light, and the 350 is a good hub.

The chain is skipping? I only had that happen when I replaced the chain on a worn cassette. As in immediately.
How do you end up with gently used cassettes? I use one until it's worn down, then put on a new one.

WhyFi would be conflicted. They look like a nice, very light wheelset, but they're also over $1k for take-offs. If you add a quarter pound, you can probably get something with a warranty for the same price. Tough call.

I had it in a really high gear as in pedaling really fast and it was constantly skipping. When I shifted to a lower gear it was going better, but if I really mashed down 90 percent of the time it would skip until I let off of it.
Im gunna look at the rear derailer tomorrow make sure it’s still straight, but i have no clue how it would have gotten so badly out of whack with my just cleaning the chain, and cassette.

So I replaced the chain the first week of january, I was told by my lbs that my old chain was super duper old. Almost wouldn’t be surprised if it was the original chain at this point. Any ways when I replaced it I was super concerned that it was going to start skipping and it didn’t. I’ve put about 600 miles on it and it started today.

Add that weight and you’ve got my current wheels, which also have a 3 mm higher ID rim, which I like. However, the way I look at the warranty is that I can afford to “self-insure.”
