Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I learned that a while back. I don't even bother with any of the Italian apparel.

wife bought me the large marinaio jersey. I can zip it up but I look like an italian stuffed shell. LBS is making it right, but of course the color I wanted isn’t left in the size I need. It’s still a sweet jersey though.

when I'm heavy, which has been to often in the last couple of years, I don't look at myself in the mirror. Makes me kinda mad at myself. There was a point last year I was unable to zip my wind vest. I am hoping I'm finally back on track. Feels like I am.

I was blessed with the amazing genes that allow me to be skinny fat. 511 165 pounds, best shape I have been in since college and yet with a shirt off or skin tight rich italian synthetic material I still look fat. It’s really an amazing gift.

Just something cheap I can go ride gravel with some of my friends in the spring and fall. 2011 looks to be in good shape. Needs tires. I think its 10 speed. Compact Sram apex its a 56, so Ill have to put a longer stem on it and 20cm seat post. But it's just gravel riding.

I meant that in a good way. Was hoping it was a pink checkpoint. Those things are saweet.

The 2021 crocket comes in a pretty sweet pink as well.

Honestly I wish I could pull off Pink tape, pink socks, pink rapha shoe covers, pink jersey. But my bike is not pink, or black, or baby blue.

February 2019 I weighed 265. Never thought I would fit in a size 32 again. I did save all my old clothes though, so once I lost the weight I didn’t have to buy a new wardrobe. The old big clothes I set on fire.

I have reviewed Natasha's tutorial, and to be more specific, the actual work time to make the crust isn't long at all. Only when you add the time the dough sits there (which doesn't really count) does it take hours and hours.

Why do I do it....

The proofing of the dough is one of the most important steps. Of course it counts in the process.

zwift group was awesome! My climbing still sucks but 243 watt average for the hour finished the full hour administered some punishment on the flats and some of the shorter climbs. Legs are coming around.
I started out tonight's ride with no particular plan, but after I'd warmed up and done the spindown, I saw the signs for "Epic KOM", so I though, "Why not?" Turns out it was the opposite - harder - direction from the one I'd done last week in Stage 3 of TdZ. Instead of long stretches of 4-7%, there were long stretches of 9-11%! I kept thinking "Shouldn't there be a flat part about now?" but there never was. I kept going, made it to the top, and then, as if that wasn't enough suffering, did the Radio Tower climb. All I can say about it is, to paraphrase The Bard - "All's Well That Ends."

I wanted to see what my downhill speed would be at my real height of 6 feet - as opposed to the 3 feet I'd accidentally entered before doing it last week. I did the same thing as last week - spin up to 40 mph then stop pedalling and go into "Super Tuck". Last week, I hit a top speed of 67 mph, as a cannonball. This week, max speed was 55 mph. Height doping really works! 12 mph difference!

It all counts. It's all time between the desire for pizza and the first bite of pizza.

Power just came back on, it was off for an hour+. Wind is still loud and it's a little drafty in here. Not like our last house, that place the blinds would swing around and make a racket when it was even a little windy. And the bugs could get in at will including scorpions and the big centipedes. Someone told me to try glueboards for the scorpions. Caught 2 lizards on the glueboards.

Mrs John caught this centipede and claimed it.
