Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I can only stand about 90 minutes. Supposed to do 2 hours of SS work today but don’t know if I’ll have time. Tomorrow looks good enough to go outside in the afternoon though.

question for the mechanic savvy… my new shimano chain is 2 links shorter than what’s on the bike now, am I screwed?
Depends how long the present chain is. You’re welcome.

You should worry about your suspect bike-fitting skills.

I'd be interested to see a histogram of numbers of bikes of each size. It seems like there are WAY MORE 56s and 54s than 58s. Sometimes it seems like there are more 60s than 58s, but I doubt this is true. OTOH, the paucity of 58s is probably a good thing for my wallet. And marriage.

You can always add links back with the little pins if you over-shortened it.

It's really amazing, when they come right off the track, just how much they are nothing but muscle and bone, and enough skin to cover it if stretched taut. In fact they have so little extra skin that their eyes often don't close when they sleep, which is real damn creepy sometimes.

EDIT: One vet tried to tell me he was overweight, because he was taught to base that on their loins. But Greyhounds tend to have much more muscular loins because they have long, flexible spines and they use those muscles A LOT in running.
