I prefer apple phones over the alternative. I have tried Lg and samsung phones in the past and they just looked and felt cheap. I don’t like the android software. My work provides me with an Ipad, but if they didn’t I would prolly go Ipad as well. I don’t own a computer ( 2 lap tops that I havnt turned on in years), but if we ever were to get a family computer I am not sure what I would get.
I also have an apple watch and a fit bit. I wear both, because they each provide me with different data. I am hoping one day to get a garmin watch so I can ditch the two.

All Windows, but I buy for office use. The business world runs on Windows.
Plus, Apple computers are way overpriced compared to Windows products with the same specs.

Laser-Projected GPS Directions Should Be a Standard Feature on Every Bicycle (msn.com)
Can't see mounting this on a bike, but imagine if the tech could be incorporated into a bike computer. The only question is how does it work in daylight?

It's new phone day for mrs datlas and the two girls. We have been using old iPhones and a cheap prepaid provider (tracfone) but the kids are grown up and we are getting all three of them new iPhone 12s and unlimited data/talk/text. The monthly cost is way higher, of course. Sigh.
I have an iphone 8 plus. I take a lot of pictures on my phone as well as with my camera, I currently have 12,033 photos on my phone. I want the camera that comes with the iphone 12 so bad. I don’t care about getting the newest phone but the pictures that phone can take are amazing.

I believe mrs datlas and Hannah each have a 6, while Heidi has an 8. So they are leap-frogging over several generations.
I have been paying less than $20/month for each of their lines, the new plan will be about $50 each. Must continue to drive the Saturn for a few more years at that price.

I actually have an 8 and have been too lazy to upgrade but probably will later this year.

I use straight talk $45 unlimited. It’s been pretty solid, have had it for about 4 years now.

I have a 2020 iPhone SE, do not care for those oversized phones as I don't stream movies or browse the forums with my phone. For serious photos I use my big cameras, otherwise my phone will suffice for snapshots and all.

With an open platform like Android, you're going to get a wide range of hardware. The flagships from the larger brands are certainly not cheap by any measure. OS preference is largely going to be a familiarity thing. Having swapped among operating systems on both mobile and desktop devices, the little differences often niggle until you settle in. That said, I feel like Apple is one of those "in for a penny..." ecosystems, which pretty much squashes any of my interest in any of their products, although some of them are otherwise compelling.

Mrs. GeneJockey has an iPhone Plus, not sure what generation. One of the big ones. She uses it preferentially for browsing etc, despite having both a computer with a big monitor, AND a Kindle Fire tablet that would do all the browsing she needs. And she's CONSTANTLY asking me how to do things online with it, which I can't help her with because I almost never use my phone for browsing. But she doesn't take "How the f*** should I know?" for an answer.

I have a friend who is a stenographer. During a recent deposition there was an answer about bulging disks in the deponent's back, only she typed the "other" word--three times. I would post that part of the transcript but for the forum rules.

That's only about $400k for the 4 years. Add to that another $200k for wedding type expenses for both girls at some time. What are you going to do with all the rest that you have?
