Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am fine. I didn’t go down. Just soured my already foul attitude. I’ve been in a funk lately. A lot of anger, trying to deal with it the best I can. Kind of why I havnt been posting much on here. Was taught, if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything.

You probably need some yoga in your life.

Glad you're okay. I hope you get out of whatever it is that's got you down.

I was ogling the Pantheon in Rome several years ago and needed a restroom. I walked out the front of this ancient majestic engineering marvel and directly across the way was a McDonalds.

I hate looking for shoes. I have big feet and a weird bone thing which causes pain if the heel is too high. Also have neuroma/forefoot pain. The last time I bought work shoes it was an ordeal. I haven't bought sneakers in many years because the ones I have don't hurt.

The last time I looked for road bike shoes was when Performance Bike still had stores here. I went into a huge Performance store and they didn't have a single pair of road or mtb shoes at any price that would fit me. I expect that. The previous pair of road shoes were found at a store miles from here that advertised a sale on huge shoes. They were pretty trashed by the time I replaced them.

Oddly, after looking at the local stores I went online and found a pair of Shimano mid-priced shoes in size 49 and they fit nice and I'm still using them after 5 years.

When I wanted some hiking boots I went to an REI and tried on many different shoes until the salesman helping me was getting tired. He stuck with it, though, and found a pair of Timberline boots that I like. He could have given up and I would have accepted that.

Ancient Roman architecture always puts me in the mood for a Big Mac and fries!

Maybe you could find some time to just do nothing, just relax for a day. Having a driver almost nail you can't help. That usually shakes me up for a while.

Thats the thing, I can’t just relax for a day. I come home to having to try and catch up to where I was already behind from the last time I was home.

We had a nice ride today. Sunny, light winds, high temp in the upper 60s. Lots of water running across the roads because the hills are saturated. Glad I didn't clean my bike.
We stopped at the Noah's Bagels where we have been many times and they normally put the cream cheese on thick but this time there was barely enough to coat the bagel.
