Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A storm blew through yesterday afternoon, that left us without power from 4PM until noon today. Almost enough time for everything in the freezer to thaw. But not quite.

Happened to my daughter while they were in Europe. Power went out at their house in Austin long enough for everything in the deep freezer to thaw. Everything had to be tossed.

Keeping it rubber-side down on a road bike seems to have been an issue for bam. A MTB might not be a better choice. Sure, speeds are less in the dirt, but so is traction. To be fair, however, bam's last incident was not his fault, and that kind of thing isn't typical in MTB-ing.

Played a round of golf. I'm terrible, but fast. 3:22, 105-115ish (I don't know all the rules, I'm assuming I earned like 10 penalties). It was 103 'merica by the time we left at like 1pm. Turned out a lot hotter than the forecast was before I booked the tee time.

Zwift hub just delivered, too. I don't know if I'm going to have any energy left to even open the box before tomorrow. Lemmie go take a nap and find out.

It is currently 107 at the airport. My AC reports the outside unit in the sun is also 107.

I'm playing Sunday at Las Colinas CC. Should be hot as hell then as well.

Riding tomorrow and Saturday. Likely nap following each.

Some sections inside the DFW terminal feels like it’s 107.

I'm sure someone (or someones) have written a book on the social and demographic effects of air conditioning on America, from the death of the front porch as anything other than a pointless visual feature on new houses to the de-industrialization of the Rustbelt and the industrialization of the Southeast. But I wonder how long people will continue moving to places where they can't go outside during daylight for months at a time?

Tiz-cycling simply will not load..mo matter the browser
And FedEx doesn't deserve to be in the delivery business. Two weeks and it hasn't left its hometown
