Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I rode 10 miles today. I was feeling a bit ouchy but I managed. I am planning on doing another ride tomorrow. Weather related ride schedule. Ride on Thursday then Saturday or Sunday. Weather and pain level permitting.

Did you grow up in the area?

Our summer wasn't too bad here. 5 weeks around 100 or higher, then a cool down with rare August rain and then a couple short heat waves. Last couple weeks have been perfect. Actually the weather here is fine as long as it's not hot.

I grew up outside St. Louis. Moved to Dallas to go to law school at SMU in 1981. Never went back.

Are the Bengals trying to channel Mario with those uniforms?

Seems to be working for 'em.

They did a pretty good job of getting fans to wear white too!

Great workout on zwift just now. That zwift crashed during, losing an hour of progress.

I know I did it. But the internet via Strava and garmin doesn’t know. And that’s just not good enough.

I even recovered the file, uploaded it to both. But when I login on those services it’s nowhere to be found. Unless I upload it again? Where it says “ can’t upload… it’s a duplicate”.

someday I’ll find software engineers I like. Not today.

What zwift needs is to start up and say “hey, it looks like zwift crashed. Would you like to resume your ride?” You click ok and be about your ****.

it’s not rocket science.

I was born in Dallas. it’s hard for me to imagine riding a bicycle in Dallas… unless it were a fixed indoor machine resembling a bicycle near an air conditioning vent!

Hey bigjohn I updated my PCH question in Regional, but no one looks there. I have an idea. Google maps says the 134 bus goes along the PCH and allegedly bikes are allowed.

So for my trip next week, it might make more sense to ride the bike to Will Rogers State Park, then take the bus to Topanga or Latigo or whichever canyon I want to ride.

Comments??

7:49 and I finished my morning ride an hour ago. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could say goodnight and stay together if I could manage that on all morning ride days? It is indeed noticeably cooler In the mornings. When we first moved to the area, I used October 10 as kickoff day to the winter riding season, when I can go out of a Sunday and not be in a hurry to get back in. That start date has varied wildly, sometimes going into late November. September has been tolerable this year as well, so just maybe.
