I took one on a test drive, circa 1990. It was a little scary. For a little bit more money I got a Ford Festiva (a Kia-built Mazda 2) which turned out to be a great commuter.

Just a random blast from the past. You might recognize a few names. Obviously this thread has had it's hills and valleys over the years.

I don't see Knox County.
Sounds like a day for indoor activities.

Going out soon to make sure I have gas, point it in the right direction, bring the smaller car into the garage, etc. Ready for battle.

I wanted to take an easy spin, so I joined a D pacer (slowest one) flat ride on Zwift.
Unfortunately, there are sprint segments on that route, and I have zero self control.
I ended up racing a 35 year old, whose avatar looked like a linebacker. He beat me every time, but not by much:
And again:
So much for an easy spin.

Also, had some minor surgical procedure done a couple of days ago, have been since sleep deprived, watched the movie "May, December" last night, and as a result had the most vivid dream I can recall in quite a while, this morning. I guess I must have been REM deprived. It mixed up various periods of my life, people I've known, places I've lived, and physicality in the form of skiing down a steep hill, on asphalt, using slick soled leather sandals.
I never did get to my destination, an old house I used to live in during college years. But that was probably because I was using an address from my early years living in Sacramento.
I intend to recover by having an excellent brunch of corned beef hash and eggs, with a couple of corn tortillas. If you haven't seen that movie yet, my wife and I agree it was riveting. The sort of character driven movie that seldom gets made any more.

...does anyone except those who live there really "see" Knox county ?
Once you lost James Agee, about all you had left was UT football.
Johnny Knoxville hardly counts for much. Sure he was born there, but that's not even his real name.
And what place wants to be famous for the Jackass movies ?

I had a dream this morning that the screen on my phone broke into pieces and I couldn't stop my Strava activity.

A guy in Peoria bought a train load of Yugos and sold them directly off of the rail cars. IIRC, price was below 1K.

I did Stage 1 of Tour de Zwift last night. I flirted with the idea of doing the long ride, but the Monthly C&V ride was scheduled for the next morning, so I figured discretion is the better part of valor and went with the B ride. But since there was a high probability of it being canceled due to rain (indeed, it was), I figured I'd go reasonably hard. Managed 235w normalized power over the 50 minutes I rode. I was lucky to find a big blob of riders going about as hard as I figured I could manage for the distance, which included Leith Hill. The blob stayed together, with my position (out of 177 riders) hovering between 45 and 75. Of course, Leith Hill strung the group out a lot, but I managed to stay in the low 60s, and then once past the top I descended with two other guys who'd gotten to the top about the same time I did. Then it was just a case of holding off anyone catching up from behind and trying to pass a rider or two before the line.
But it's not a race. Oh, no. Sure, they tell you your position, and then Zwiftpower lists finishers in order, with the first 3 getting Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophy icons. But it's not a race!
Here I am, cresting Leith Hill. I confess to grabbing that guy's wheel and holding on for dear life for the last half mile....
Oh, and this morning my HRV measured 8.4 - "Proceed as planned". I guess I'm not working hard enough!

...I had a recurrence of a melanoma on my L ear. I now look like a leprechaun on that L side profile. Not supposed to "exercise" for a week, but that will be difficult to impossible for me. It is exercise that keeps me going at this point in life. What is life, without endorphins ?
...good one.

Commie bastard's car. Kind of the rolling equivalent of an Ilyushin or a Tupolev.
I once had to fly to Israel for my work on one day's notice. The only open seat was on Aeroflot. I told my colleague that I could get on that flight, and the phone line went dead for about five seconds. I was told to make it two days notice and fly on a #Capitalist airline with real planes where events like a panel blowing out were rare occurrences.
