being ignorant, no, not really. I got a Brother MFC210 for $200, it prints paper great but the photos are terrible, I just get photos done at the camera shop, prints off digital are cheap as chips for them to do it. :)
|
You can pick up a little printer/scanner/copier unit for under $100 these days from all the major chains. The catch is that it's cheaper to buy a new one than it is to buy new ink cartridges.

BTW anyone got any suggestions for a reasonable printer/scanner for home PC that I can get for cheap? Basically to print photos and handle the wife's uni assignments And yeah, its the consumables that realy get your dollars. Regards, Anthony |
I gotta plug HP Printers... I work there :p

Speaking of printers....
must be about time for another edition from our reporter in chief. Plenty of material flying about at the minute, injuries, titles, teams, comittees. |
Well I've decided that it isn't safe to ride anywhere anymore.
I was commuting via the yarra trail bike path last night and almost got into a punch on with some pedestrian. For once in my life I was doing the right thing, called out 'bike' to let ppl know I was coming, slowed down (thats a first) and kept to the left side of the path. But some guy who stopped in the middle of the path on a bend decided to give me grief by making some passing remark like 'your a w@nker' or something. Being the helpful guy that I am, I stopped to explain how shared pathways worked. :) Lets just say he didn't take my information well and came over and got in my face. He claimed 'Your puffing and worn out, that means I can take you out....' WTF |
Thanks for the suggestions & information fellas. One of the guys here at work reckons the Canon Pixma's are not bad either. I have plenty to consider now. Funny how getting a new printer wasn't that urgent until the Mrs needed to use it - and now it's "Priority!
And don't worry pshaw, the actual computer is an HP so you're covered. |

As he went by he kept going further in to it before swerving back out in to the proper lane. He was flying too, no passengers, farken too close for my liking the bastard !! :( |
'You're puffing and worn out, that means I can take you out"
? "And you'll be puffing out the side of your head after it connects with my u-lock?" WTF indeed! |

All bus drivers are certifiable, especially the ones who seem sane.

Completely OT -
http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html I'm wondering if there's some cross-over technology here that could be applied to bikes? *shrug* :) (probably NSFW) Oh, and Patty? Any reason those phones wouldn't work over here? A Razr is 250 bucks plus a 24 month contract! ALL YOUR RAZRS ARE BELONG TO US! |
When we priced the Razr there, it was $550 outright. We went with T-Mobile as they are the only carrier that takes a SIM card. Since they're quad band GSM, there's no reason it wouldn't work in Oz too.

:D not sure how you came across this one  |
I was um....googling suspension systems?
Any more Razrs where you got that one from, patty? Those phones are wicked. |
Once I'm a bit settled here, I'm going to see how I go about getting some of these GSM phones for retail. Anything to keep the missus from having to get a job.

WTF same style of thing just happened to me. Riding home, its school time so itrs busy on this main road near this high school (Waratah), a couple of buses are outside the school, the traffic is slow and busy so I jump in the right lane to pass some of the traffic. Buses pull out traffic is accelerating i thought its time to jump back into the left lane so I sprint to get around this car pull safely into the left lane (no shoulder so near gutter) then I get this horn blast. wtf then this council worker is hangin out of the car abusing me. "So I yell out there was plenty of room." he responds with, "I'll fight ya." wtf why do drivers think they are king *****? and why are council workers so dero? |

The person who wanted the printer, hunt around the computer fairs for an older model. Why you ask? New printers have the inkjet head intergrated into the ink cartridges, making replacements expensive, there will be no generic cartridges. If you want cheap cartridges you have to do refills which can be tricky if you dont know how to do it (like me) Older printers use a normal cartridge so you can buy cheap generic cartridges. I bought one for $6 (black) last week and its going good. |
I'm guessing that it IS the phone outright. Gawd, I hope you don't pay retail for bike stuff. That would be a travesty.
|
hey since the razr over here is still expensive (for in reality for what it is) and the latest model is released. I guess we are a bit behind the times here in Aus.
Havent bought much stuff for the bike lately so I dunno if I pay retail or not, I guess it would depend on what im buying and how despereate i am |
