hey guys do you reckon this is a good frame? If yes how much should I go up to? I know its a general question but, I know about jack with bikes
link ebay item

jock 03-17-06 04:14 AM

The frame is an entry level track frame, and would be good Ebay value up to about $250.

It is waaaay to small for you, unless you were planning on using it as a BMX bike :D

Who the hell is Sean Finning? Sounds like a bloody Scotsman or Irishman

berny 03-17-06 04:28 AM

Good on cn9 missing most of the mens points race. Telecast began when the thing was over. :( But you'll never see only the last 5m of a swim freek'n race.

What was the story with Kirsten's DSQ?

jock 03-17-06 04:38 AM

entered the sprinters lane. nearly had a collision of elbows with RB. nothing in it, but big C's obviously like a very technically correct race at the expense of an entertaining race

He's the wild colonial boy - he was born in Castlemaine

yep good allrounder, won the Aus titles madison with Simon Clarke a fortnight ago. Good points rider, good teams pursuiter, good madison rider. Probably best comparison would be O'Grady. Don't know how his engine is on the road though, though that is where he wants to go, and don't know what his bunch kick is like on the road, but going from the points result he must be ok.

How did he go against Henderson when they went head to head in any of the sprints. IF he can beat Henderson at 21 he will be damn good. Potentially a good bunch sprinter.

Given that I know zip about track cycling, can someone explain the relevance of this? Why wasn't he allowed to enter the sprinter's lane?

thanks,
Nada

jock 03-18-06 01:51 AM

Before we start, I just saw the news and the relegation was because he chopped down on Kelly (yeah, his own teammate!) in the back straight on the last lap and actually hit his front wheel. Kelly is, to put it mildly, a tad peeved as he would have medalled for sure.

Anyway, back to the sprinters lane thingy. Once the sprint starts the lead rider will usually occupy the sprinters lane because it's the shortest distance around the track. The sprint start is as ajudged by the commissaires, could be any time in the race. Clear as mud? Cool. Once the sprint starts riders trying to come around the outside of anyone who is already in the sprint lane are not allowed to interfere with the riders in the sprint lane, and that, means you have to stay outside the line. Technically I think the rule states a gap of at least 2 bike lengths before you can drop into the sprinters lane after passing, but in most races I've seen the big C's let you get away with as little as 1/2 bike length.

How is Emma Snowsil's (triathlete) butt!! Could win awards world over i reckon. :D

matagi 03-18-06 02:47 AM

Thanks for the explanation Jock!

Regarding the touching wheels thingy, it explains why the other guys weren't very sympathetic towards him in their interviews on Ch9.

jock 03-18-06 03:11 AM

It didn't show up on the live vision or the replays, but now its easier to understand why Kelly went out the back so friggin fast. I couldn't believe it while I was watching. I was sure we had an easy 1-2-3, and then....

jock 03-18-06 03:15 AM

How friggin fast is Ryan Bayley? Chewed up the opposition and spat them out!!!

mrkott3r 03-18-06 03:35 AM

women's sprint on, 1st one was good.

Bah, your too young kotter

Odin 03-18-06 05:03 AM

The track cycling has been awesome to watch. Is there anyone Ryan Bayley can't run into the ground?

Changing the subject slightly... had my first actual road race today (as opposed to all the crits I've been doing) Damn good fun, 50km of rolling hills. Ended in a bunch sprint (uphill/headwind). I jumped about 5 secs too late, was pulling in 1st and 2nd and got 3rd by a tyre.
Yeehaaw!! :D

thunder 03-18-06 06:20 PM

had to laugh at Bayley, he said Kersten has a habit of "pulling stuff" like that. No pulling punches there from the big KFC.

while we are on track cycling (sorry odin) whats a scratch race? (its on tonight)

Odin 03-18-06 07:02 PM

No worries Gabe. ;)
Noun 1. scratch race - a race in which all contestant start from scratch (on equal terms)

from the Comm Games site:

Scratch race

This event begins with all competitors at the starting line. The track is 20km and the first cyclist across the finish line is the winner. Tactics are an important tool for success in this event. Endurance cyclists keep the pace fast right from the beginning to eliminate the sprint cyclists.

The guy's a machine. I watched him in person at the DGV and I couldn't believe anyone could generate that much power.
Didn't you just love the way he 'looked' at his opponent in the sprint as he rode passed him on the line, and after giving him 20m.

Oh man, don't you guys just love ebay descriptions?
