Trashing it? I probably would if I knew what it was about, but I doubt I'd be able to sit through 5 minutes... just more US rating fodder innit?
That clip is good though, brings back a lot of memories.
"The Jan" blog is a pisser

Somehow I missed the bit about your crash??? Fill me in?

matagi 04-28-06 06:01 AM

The scary thing is there are a few people on the thread who reckon it's really The Jan.

Very funny stuff however.

berny 04-28-06 06:03 AM

Hey guys. Got some baaaad news this arvo. One of me mates drove into the garage with his new Principia on the roof of his new Honda. :( Bike is trashed from his description. Both top and down tubes ripped from the head tube plus whatever else would logically be stuffed. He's shattered. I'm trying to make him believe it can all be put right. A frame, forks? group should be OK. Wheels??? mmmmmmmm biiig job. But not impossible. Wada u recon?

classic1 04-28-06 06:35 AM

Poor bastid. I like them Principia's. What a tragedy for ya mate.

very embarressing.

attained highest OTB score of the year on perfectly flat ground (plank bridge) and broke collarbone. bad v-shaped break near the point of the shoulder and an inch of floating bone debris peeled off the front. hope that gets reabsorbed real fast

pinkie dislocated too, like something from a freakshow. very little bark off due as i was wearing a courier style backpack. it took all the nails and splinters. thylacine shirt, gloves, arm warmers all cut up by the nursing staff. its sad when those young girls can't wait to see an old fart's grey haired chest.

all good now tho. back on the windtrainer as soon as i get the busted forks replaced on the hack bike.

Thylacine 04-28-06 07:00 AM

Sorry to hear about your mates Principia. They're frightning bikes anyway - had one come in for possible repairs and the frame broke at the water bottle boss. Read: Full water bottles killed the frame!

Depending on how the bike was attached to the roof, all the bits should be okay. Obviously I'd toss anything that looks like it took a hit.

If he needs a quote for insurance or needs a shoulder to cry on, get him to give me a bell on 03 8309 0005.

Was it here or on mtbr where there was a thread about driving your bike into the garage where some drongo had done it multiple times and actually though it wasn't enbarassing enough NOT to tell everyone?

Question for any Central Coast Cycling Club types out there - does the club have a beginner's section for the more "mature" rider? (hubby wants to know) Website not very informative in this respect.

Thanks,
Nada

I am loving the Jan.

Also did the roof rack mounted bike into the carport (at a caravan park) recently. :o Fortunately it was my MTB and I only broke the seat.

And Forever Young = cool video, bad song.

yes, but not as bad as that dancy, poofy, wishy-washy cover of Big Yellow Taxi a few years ago -- DISGUSTING!!

What Ive learnt from bikeforums.net today, do not mount a bike on a car roof. You always forget its there

nada,

there are no 'sections' really, the club is mostly just a bunch of guys and gals of all ages and abilities giving it a go. for an introductory ride you can't go past the coffee ride on sunday mornings (so long as there's no race on the same day). its a cruisey ride at recovery pace where the emphasis is on having a yak and a coffee, and becoming comfy riding in a group. PM me if he wants more details on best pickup/drop off points for his current ability/fitness.

other option is to ride in E grade (25km) at calga. it's the social/beginner grade and riders can stay there as long as they like. Unless they blitz it of course, then they'll be asked to move along to D grade.

+1

Also, the people on TAT IV have somewhat questionable taste in music.

To Jock, thanks for the reply, will get the toyboy to PM you as soon as he gets off the phone.

Odin 04-29-06 02:40 AM

Rolled up to the EVCC Crits today and was told that yep, yer in C grade. :)
They're definitely a bit quicker than D, plenty more attacks, less recovery... what a blast!!

...oh yeah, I f*****n won it!!!  :D

101st in Stage 3 - the Jan is lulling his opponents into a false sense of security.
