Nah, I'm into MotoGP these days - the 125cc class makes for some very entertaining watching.

climbo 05-22-06 10:20 PM

mmmmmmm, motorbikes :)

62vette 05-22-06 10:38 PM

In order of interest - WRC, MotoGP, 2L Touring, MotoX, Formula Ford & Pacific, V8s, A1, F1, followed by Cart/Indy/Nascar and all those other turn left only motorsports.

Any motorsport where you can be competitive in a Skoda has got to be good :D

HDTVKSS 05-22-06 10:46 PM

im more of an international motorsport fan. in order of preference : world superbike, Moto GP, F1, CCWS, NASCAR, V8 Supertaxis. ill watch anything motorsport if its on TV.

A1 was good in principle, but the pit stop rules were just stupid. that and the fact that alan jones owns the aus franchise  although i did take some comfort in the fact that christian jones was consistently hopeless.

62vette 05-22-06 10:47 PM

My fave Bathurst race car was the Moffatt RX-7, he never won but I liked the way a naturally aspirated 1.3L rotary could pace the big V8s.

HDTVKSS 05-22-06 10:49 PM

give me an R32 anyday :D heaviest race car to ever race the mountain and on modern rubber would smash the record again..... Aus had the fastest R32's in the world thanks to the aus made hollenger (sp)gearbox, which was the only thing that would hold togeather in the things over a race distance.

Group C was the ducks nuts as well.

jock 05-22-06 11:27 PM

Bathurst isn't bathurst without the big V8's careening towards something the size of a ford escort or toyota corolla. Those little mobile chicanes made the racing much more interesting, and dangerous/exciting.

And then there was the year some dill drove a stock standard volvo around on stock standard radials just to prove it could go the distance. That was hilarious (for about a lap). Alan Moffit was shooting flames out of every orifice whenever he spoke about it :roflmao:

62vette 05-23-06 12:16 AM

I still can't believe they raced those awful flying bricks

hehe, I remember DJ running into the back of that thing (Mark Petch Volvo I think it was) while on the two-way at Calder. He was yelling "Bloody Swedish block of flats!!"

while we are on car racing does anyone have a link to some footage of Juan Fangio racing the Maserati at Nurbergring in the 50's where he came 1st from midpack halfway through the race and broke the lap record like 10 times in 22 laps. I wish I was alive to be at the track at that race.

HDTVKSS 05-23-06 01:53 AM

nah no footgae, but fangio was amazing for somone that didnt do his 1st race till he was 29 and didnt enter F1 till he was 36

mrkott3r 05-23-06 01:56 AM

Well no driver has ever repeated what he did and probably never will. Probably because with today's cars it simply isnt possible

It still is possible with todays cars, but the rules in place (especially for formula 1) virtually prohibit it.

No. But I do have a couple of 8min laps of the 'Gring by Rohrl in a ****hot 911 turbo if you want them. Quite captivating to watch. The Carousel. Aaaah.

And Climb Dance

Rendezvous

I went out with a girl for a while whose late father was a racing nut. They had the most beautiful big, signed photos of old Auto Unions and W series Mercs on the wall, and a garage with a '20s supercharged Vauxhall, 40's Harleys, a '50's Bentley.....
shame it didn't work out

for a computer? Just go to a computer fair and buy the cheapest one you can find. Ten minutes putting it in your ready to connect that camcorder/ipod up.

HDTVKSS 05-23-06 05:37 AM

bbw 05-23-06 05:54 AM

to the computer? if you need to do that you need a video capture card or a VIVO graphics card or something with video input.

Sorry If I dont make much sense Ive just finished writing a presentation. I barely make sense to myself

bbw 05-23-06 07:21 AM

for audio I use Protools
either an MBox or Digi2
so appreciate decent software and hardware.

Video is not my priority at the moment,
but I'll certainly be attempting or at least facilitating some serious captures and perhaps edits
in the future.
This is on a mac BTW and I don't really want to spend my money twice.
Whatcha reckon decent interface wise?

Brian 05-23-06 08:29 AM

In the 80's, a Ferrari 288 GTO went up against a Mercedes AMG Hammer on the track. It was close, but the Ferrari driver was working it like crazy while the guy in the Merc fiddled with the radio at 100+.
