RHCP, what an album chockers full of radio freindly unit shifters. They only had one good album in them I'm afraid to say.

You Am I? Australia's most overrated band, or maybe that's just Tim Rodgers? I dunno.

Pop-punk? You can keep it. I'd rather listen to DRI or Stiff Little Fingers. Descendents is as pop-punk as I get.

Mudhoney is indeed still around. +10 Superfuzz Bigmuff!

Depends on how you plan to get to work and where exactly work is. Hubby used to drive in to William St, and that was a real PITA 'coz the traffic on the Pac Hwy absolutely crawls in peak hour and then there was the hassle of getting into the tunnel. Tried a couple of variations to approach the city - Ryde Rd/Epping Rd/Gore Hill Fwy and also via St Ives/Chatswood (Bobbin Head Rd/Link Rd/Eastern Arterial/Penshurst St/Willoughby Rd/Warringah Fwy) both pretty crap when the traffic is heavy. After putting up with it for a couple of years, he went to telecommuting.

I would seriously consider the train if you are based in the city centre. We have started doing that for trips into town since petrol got so stupid and it works surprisingly well.

IMHO that honor goes to powderfinger. 1 good album - lets re release it with different words 5 or so times and hope no one notices. also that solo album by fanning was the most god awful piece of drivel since ben lee.

climbo 05-24-06 01:21 AM

You Am I over-rated? I thought they were hardly rated. They're not exactly top billing in Oz unless I missed something. Have they been on Sunrise yet?

Apparently Wendall Sailor & John Hopuate (sp?) were going change careers to form a band of the same name.....

jock 05-24-06 03:20 AM

HDT, a better option might be to look at something around Berowra/Berowra Hts while prices are still on the lower side of exxy. Less hassle (no F3 dodgem car race, train lotteries, communal diseases, etc.) and you've got so many more options for racing coz you're only an hour from anywhere.

jock 05-24-06 03:35 AM

Best commercial acts in Oz: Easybeats, LaDeDa's, Billy Thorpe, Daddy Cool, Kevin Borich Express, Aussie Crawl, Ted Mulry Gang (for persistence at least), The Mentals, Angels, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Oils, Shihad-- no wait, Pacifier -- no, Shihad, and Air Supply (just fkidding)

mrkott3r 05-24-06 03:41 AM

Pioneers (M83 remix) by the Block Party is a song im diggin at the moment.
RHCP have sold out. Stuff up to and including Californications is insane.

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 05:35 AM

shihad are good on CD, but were way too wanky for their own good when i saw them live. like cmon, they were playing manly fishos, but carried on like it was wembley stadium......

I was passing a guy tonight who was obviously commuting, being decked out with all the big chunky lights, backpack, strap-on mudguard, etc; so, as I ride up behind him, I think i can see "Scapin" on his seat-stays. I think to myself: "surely not". Sure enough, the guy uses a Scapin EOS7 as his commuter/all-rounder bike! Cost him $7000 with some sort of Campag.

A $7000 Scapin with mudguards??!! That's a first for me :)

No way. Silverchair wins this one easily. Has Johns ever sung a "right" note?

Hey has anyone here done the Mont 24hr? Is it worth doing?

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 06:13 PM

way off topic ( not that were ever on topic) but does anyone knowif sustagen contains trans fat? after a big heart attack in the family last week im trying to cut all the bad fat out of my diet, and sustagen is the only thing i can think of that i have on a consistent basis that may have trans fat.

Thylacine 05-24-06 06:45 PM

Unless you drink 2 ltrs a day, somehow I think you'll be okay

I did the Melbourne 12hr last year. Sure, enduros are more fun than 'normal' racing, but unless you have a big crowd and something to entertain you while you're there, they're pretty boring. It's kinda like camping but with all the best bits taken out.

badsac 05-24-06 06:54 PM

Isn't the riding the entertainment?

pshaw 05-24-06 06:57 PM

HD, I work 2 mins up the road from you and drive every day as there are no trains and the bus from Chatswood is a lottery, can take between 45m-1.5hours depending when you leave.
I usually get in really early or really late and almost always leave early then log on from home. If you aint that flexibile it will be a pain. I'm gonna start communting by bike 1-2 days to get some training done.

It aint too bad, you do get used to it, whats the alternative, live in the burbs and catch a bus or drive an hour anyway?

And now you have a training partner. Cleared to ride again, and seeing as how my winter season has been obliterated I'll be building up the miles for two races: the Grafton-Inverell and the State Titles.

You riding from Gosford to work via the old hwy, or are you gonna pike it and catch the train?

He must have a reputation. On one of their lbums there's a line that reads "No pitch altering software used in the production of this album"

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 07:13 PM

but yet they still record to pro tools ......

Thylacine 05-24-06 07:20 PM

Some Sidi bargains here fellas if you have midget feet (40,41)

http://www.torpedo7.com/page/austral...etter&banner=1

Saccy, if you're doing a 24hr race with 3 other idiots, you're only riding one hour every 4, so you have to do something to entertain yourself. I'd probably bring a couch and some dvds - seriously. It's more relaxing than attempting to socialise with a bunch of cliquey socially ******** mountain bikers.

If you guys think Johns is off key, you must have pretty high standards. Obviously you haven't watched much Idol! (or listened to my MP3 collection)

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 07:26 PM

Pshaw, bout that ride we were going to hook up, im keen for some MTB action in lane cove if your interested. may be better to wait till daylight savings to get a good run at it though?

blacksac - the Mont is apparantly good, but its a hella loooonnngggg course and gets longer every year. add to that the fact that its normally freezing cold and more often than not rains. go to www.pixelpics.com.au and get a look at some pics from last year. friend of mine was doing maint for the cannondale team and he said it was just abysmal. also have to be on the lookout for bike theives, a few bikes went missing last year. most arent the sort of bikes that you would consider high profile stealability either( like really, who steals an NRS??) which points to non bikers. other than all that im sure its a great race :) www.26inches.com IIRC has a multi page thread on the last years event.

general consensus seems to point to the WSMTB 24 hour at dargle as being a better bang for your buck race ( as long as you can handle listening to stu plant crap on for that long...

Yep, ride the old road to work, let me know when you are keen?

HD, yep keen for a MTB in lane cove. Lunch or after work?

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 07:55 PM

after work is probably best for moi, hence the daylight savings option.

The road leg of last weekend's multisport event:

How the elite boys like Camie do it, he stepped off his bike, handed the bib over and puked in the gutter, 24km < 37min

http://www.smileclick.co.nz/content/...Black-2008.jpg

then there's munters like me, 44 min

http://www.smileclick.co.nz/content/...6-Red-2115.jpg

and my mate Toes, 47 min, we went to the pub afterwards then rode home :D
