Good lord. Basso again. That's some serious domination. And I fell asleep at the crucial moment before pressing record again. Bugger. It's not gonna be the best highlights tape.

That's the difference between the design philosophies of the Italians and the Germans. Italians demand that their cars be driven with brute force whereas the Germans are lazy and prefer technology does most of the work for you.

Nah, that's the difference between a company with a "grand touring" philosophy and one with a "racing" philosophy.

Ferraris have always been notorious for their lack of forgiveness. You have to be on the ball all the time or they will turn around and bite you.

Isn't that what I said?

grand touring = lazy
italian's racing = crazy

British auto engineering errs on the side of ludicrous, which is marginally better than good old aussie knowhow in the field of crap

pshaw 05-23-06 05:14 PM

Somone told me an old 'true' story about a 'mate' on a Fireblade racing a guy in a Lotus Esprit Turbo.
Anyway, the kicker is at 150Mph they are side by side, eyeballing each other. The guy on the blade is hanging on for his life, the guy in the Lotus reaches across and picks up an apple which he starts to munch on while driving with one hand....

LOL....

Depends on the engineering, this little baby is 80 years old, if you want a challenge, try muscling this around a carpark. :p

Ahh yes, the DB5 would be my choice, beautiful looking car.

Although to be honest, I have a soft spot for Lamborghinis.

climbo 05-23-06 06:00 PM

cars, cars, cars... who needs 'em... :)

painting a bike? I am now an expert. Did about 6 layers of pink on my daughters bike this week, looks superb and it isn't even glossed yet. Will be touching up the black and then finishing it up with clear gloss.

Some light sanding went through to metal in about 3 passes, was super easy.

HDTVKSS 05-23-06 06:04 PM

Pshaw is wondering if you can hook his bike up for a respray to match his nicks! ( make sure you include the flames....)

Thylacine 05-23-06 06:11 PM

Yeah, with all the 80's revival happeneing at the moment, I'd be happy posing in a Countach.

Although, when Fifth Gear tested the latest Lambo, they hated the traction control and thought the 4wd took a lot of the fun out of the car. I honestly believe what everyone is saying about Ferrari is wrong in a modern context. I love watching car shows (height of irony) and the general concensus seems to be they they absolutely rock.

Did anyone see the addition of Fifth Gear where the woman presenter got to test drive the latest Aston, and when she started it up, she gave it some, turned the steering full lock to bring the back end around, and one of the cam/timing/whatever belts came flying off?!

Of course, they made it out that it was her fault (insinuating she doesn't know how to drive because shes a woman clearly), but I tell you what, she's an incredible driver and she stuck it up them pointing out an obvious design flaw and they weren't happy. So what did she do?

So she did it again! :roflmao:

Still, Lambos might not be the final word, but who cares when they look like this?

Like the dude in the Ferrari who pulled out of a fancy hotel on the road that surrounds Loch Lomond, gave it the gas and 360'd into oncoming traffic, killed a woman motorbiker :(

FWIW, My brothers 944 cab (TWICE) had the water under his tyres freeze and the car slid down the driveway into a wall! ahh bonnie Scotland!

I got a drive in a DB6, old not very well recond....and drove like crap.

Liked the guy in the Ferrari on the drag strip...Cause punching the air will make you feel better!

I was at a racetrack in Scotland watching a "hot hatch" day, when they had a demo from the Porsche owners club. Well the first lap was pretty boring as they were all under control compared to the sketchy idiots in their mums escort cosworth.

Anyway, we're at the bottom of a downhill into a right hander when we hear the roar of someone giving it big licks... comes over the hill right/left into the big right and proceeds to 360 the 911 Turbo into the kitty litter and tyre wall right next to us. Poor guy gets out wearing a porsche leather jacket and driving gloves to the sounds of 100 pi55ed idiots shouting "I'll gie ye ten quid fur yer motor pal"

Tow truck came & uncerimoniously dragged it out by the nose looking decidedly damaged. :p

Odin 05-23-06 10:20 PM

One of the perks from my days with JRA was when I was made foreman for Lotus Australia (didn't get a pay rise, just a title) and was able to take an Esprit demo out for a day, and occasionally fer a weekend.
This was me around 1990... gawd, what a tosser... Did have some fun though :D

RHCP Stadium Arcadium - ???? how many funk ballads can one band produce??? Keidis can't sing 'em that well. get back to the rock'n'roll boys !!!

You Am I Convicts - tops album as usual.

The RHCP disappointment was covered by You Am I, also picked up the new Saints album (yes, the original Saints for those who can remember), NOFX, Mudhoney and Pennywise.

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 12:23 AM

stadium arcadium i think is a good driving CD, kind of put it in and forget about it. a couple of songs are repeat melodies off other albums which gets a bit annoying. I liked it more when i 1st got it, which is normally the sign that i wont like it in a month! my fave albums are the ones that take 3 - 4 listens to get into. Actaully, i like that this album is less rock, their last album was a turn off cause they lost the funk. im also not huge on fruschante (sp) as a guitarist. ironicly the RHCP album i like the most is one hot minute (with guitar god dave navarro) which is considered the least funky of the lot...

Convicts is fantastic, hasnt been out of my cd player for more than a day! ( actaully im stoked that somone else out there actually likes you am i!)

Pennywise, i have about 4 of their albums and dont see the need to get any more :) they are a bit samey. NOFX, while a good band annoy me with the overdubed vocals all the time.

SWMBO is going to the UK on the 7th and ive prebooked a couple of albums including the arctic monkeys new EP. their album was absolute gold, so im hoping the EP lives up to it.

mudhoney is still producing albums??!! is it still the same lineup?

im hanging out for the new Rancid DVD + album next year....

HDTVKSS 05-24-06 12:31 AM

for those who live on the coast and work in sydney, is it a PITA to get from somwhere like gosford (or even further?) to work? SWMBO and i anre starting to weigh up the housing purchase options and the coast with the most looks quite exciting. ( i guess i wont mention it to her that its nice and close to ourimbah XC + CCCC road and Crit races ;) )
