300kays in a day Wilco? That's a good earner. Wouldn't wanna get a saddle sore 20kays into it :D What's the course profile like?

A decent day out for sure. Couple of short sharp pinches in the first 100kms that apparently hurt a bit, but basically a flat profile - certainly not a mountain race. The weather can play a big part, as you head west from Melbourne and there is a fair chance of a headwind all the way.

I was support crew for a mate last year & he came 6th in C grade (open race - he normally races A in club comp) with an average speed of 39odd kmh. I can't comprehend doing that for 30kms let alone 300kms!!

Calling all amateur dieticians.....

Anyone heard about Acai berry juice from "the depths of the Amazon jungle...."?? I'd post in the nutrition board, but I can't deal with over zealous seppos going on a crusade.

There's a bloke in my office who reckons it's a wonder potion....i have a feeling it's just the latest version of wheatgrass juice.

Thoughts? Opinions??

It's not too hard if you're in a good pack even over those distances, but just under 40kmh is still a fair effort. If you can keep your rhythm going you can work through the painful bits, but if ppl are constantly charging off the front then it gets a bit tough.

True, being in a good pack makes the world of difference. One good thing about riding with him is I can sit in and it's like being motorpaced for a slacker like me!

He said the worst parts were when the pack is sitting on close to 50kmh and a couple of the overseas pros decide its time to put the hammer down and take off!

Haven't heard of the Acai berry. but on a somewhat similar "new product" theme...

Bloke I met on the bike the other day was gee-ing up some new gel product that he was distributing, Gave me the website to check out and when I got home & looked it up it was basically an Amway type set up with "sports nutrition" products. Thanks mate, please don't make me waste my breath if you see me on the road again.

Sorry ed, was the only place on the net that i could find without any hype. ;)

Looks to be similar to blackcurrents except high in B12 instead of C. I'd rather eat a vegemite sambo.

Mass start these days. The attrition starts early.

I don't suppose you guys get the new Apple commercials on TV over there. Check them out on the Apple site sometime.

Mass start these days, as ed said. Had about 150 odd starters last year, so you can have a long day of hurt if you want to keep up with the big dogs, but you can probably find somewhere to hide for a start.

Have you raced the Warny ed?

Remember the bit that was shown on Media Watch a couple of years ago, where Mel and Cocky had some linguistics expert on the show? The person was making a point about slang or colloquialisms, or somethink, and proceded to use the word "****" as an example. It was fkn grouse!!! It was like: "for example, if you were to use the word '****'......." The interview was cut :)

From what site did you load it?

how obtrusive is it? Does it mean my Explorer has to go?
