On the way to work this morning I passed every cyclists worst nightmare: a lost load off a truck. This one was special: over 100 car and truck batteries scattered along a 300m sectin of the highway.

Imagine being hit by that. Nasty!

These have the "curvy" bars and the handle grip ends point back towards the rider - I'm sure there is a proper term for them. They aren't all that wide as far as I could tell, certainly seemed narrower than the trekking bars I have at home.

And just to make sure we are all on the same page, by mixte frame I mean the step through style.

The only thing I've seen locally which remotely resembles these bikes is that clunky Giant thing that has the ultra-wide seat and looks like it is designed to take an electric motor.

Yeah I was watching Peking to Paris. It was a great series and I noticed the bikes you were talking about. The bikes that we saw people riding looked just like the hybrid bikes we get here but I also noticed the bike leaning on a wall in one shot that had the handlebars I think your talking about. There called Trekking/Butterfly bars and I use them myself. There far more common in Europe than anywhere else but they are available here too. Their designed to fit on flat bar bikes and there just a simple bolt on procedure. It would be more difficult to fit them to road bikes with drop bars.

Check this out.

Titanium frame with titanium forks. WTF? Seller is claiming its Italian. Some of the welds look rough as guts. I'm not buying it but it's got me scratching my head, Thylo, do you know what it is? An early Morati (which are Czech I think) maybe?

Only Gumby could ride with the brake hoods on that thing. Gotta love the 7 speed freewheel. Very 1989.

06/06/06 and nearly 6,666 posts. Ooooooohhhhhhhhh.

jock 06-05-06 04:57 PM

It was 6 degrees at 6 minutes past 6 this morning.

needless to say I ended up getting a good soaking just 5 minutes from work. I hate jinxes

So how do you reckon old Lucifer gets on with time zones? I mean it's still 5/6/06 in the slower parts of the world like the USA. So if he's going to reclaim the earth on the 6/6/06 he'd have to do it at exactly midday from somewhere on the Greenwich Meridian so that it's really the 6/6/06 everywhere, right? Otherwise the lawyers would have a field day with him. He wouldn't stand a chance.

bbw 06-05-06 05:13 PM

yeah!
and in honor of the Devil's music, if anyone's bored tonight there's a few bands on tonight at Tailor's on Central in Mary St. Surry Hills. I mean who's gonna get up in the morning to train in this weather? We're on at 10. Come along and then tomorrow we can all have a giggle and talk about how good Timmy Rogers is after all.:)

cmon, you and i both know he runs the lawyers!

in other news, i propose a new charity is set up. " save a bus driver " , yes, just for a dollar a day, you can help a bus driver learn what in indicator is and why he should use both it and a mirror before cutting across an 80 kph road when hes doing 20 kays an hour....

It's a toss-up what the Song Of The Day is going to be today. I was thinking something by Slayer, but how can you go past Iron Maidens 'The Number of the Beast'?

No idea what that Ti frame is. I wouldn't ride it though, looks scary - esp the forks.

I'm temped to just to post dribble for the next 4 posts just so I can have post #6666

I'd like to teach a few things to the ignorant school bus driver that thought overtaking a cyclist in a roundabout this morning was a good idea - not :( His passengers were slightly bemused by the rabid man in red pounding on the side of the bus and gesticulating at the side mirror with a middle finger.

First real frost here this morning, 2C overnight and fully kitted out with beanie, booties and woolly gloves. Needless to say the nose was running like a tap for the whole ride - snot-rocket-arama.

HDTVKSS 06-05-06 05:33 PM

am i evil?

Thylacine 06-05-06 05:37 PM

Are you vomitting jets of green vomit?

It would only have been a jinx if you got soaked SIX minutes from work - 5 minutes broke the run. :D

you'd betta learn to love riding in the rain ! 3 weeks, you'll have plenty of time to ride. I'd kill for 3 days to have time to ride. :p

yep.

Only time it's ever cancelled is when visibility falls below 100m or the wind is too strong (ie. the safety signs get blown over!). Most wussy riders usually pike it before conditions get that bad.

So you stepping up to B Grade this week HDT to do a lazy 75kays
